Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik seek Research & Advocacy Officer, based in Jakarta

Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the better.  We've begun to build a national organisation that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia namely Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik Tunas Cilik.  To this end, Yayasan has been designated as a “Prospect Member of Save the Children” which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Currently Save the Children’s programs in Indonesia is implemented by Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik. We work in eleven provinces, have staff of approximately 300 local professionals, and programming in Child Protection, Education, Health and Nutrition, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Humanitarian Response. We are currently seeking to fill the following position:


RESEARCH & ADVOCACY OFFICER
1 position, based in Jakarta

ROLE PURPOSE:
The Research & Advocacy Officer is part of the Advocacy and Campaign Team. He/she will play a role in working with Research Adviser in building research and policy content for Save the Children’s next global campaign on “Every Last Child,” specifically ending excluded children in Indonesia, through the Exclusion Mapping Project. This project is being piloted by Save the Children Tanzania and Save the Children Indonesia, with support from Save the Children UK.

Under the general direction and guidance of the Researcher Adviser, Advocacy and Campaign, he/she will be the part of the focal point for collecting and analysing existing data sources primarily on children who live in isolated/indigenous areas, while supporting an ambitious and achievable country office Every Last Child advocacy campaign (2016-2018) with a focus on ending excluded children in Indonesia.  He/she will help developing the exclusion toolkit, qualitative research design, conducting the primary research phase, exclusion analysis and creating the advocacy outputs produced from the project. This role will also be responsible for assisting the training and knowledge sharing sessions on data use and exclusion mapping for country office staff.  In addition to supporting the local implementation of the global campaign, he/she will assist in providing technical assistance and support to thematic sectors and specific projects to collect and analyse data necessary to develop and implement advocacy activities aligned with the country office strategy.
