Vacancy Announcement: Project Manager SIPP, Sulawesi Barat

The Swisscontact Sustainable Indonesian Patchouli Production Program is currently accepting applications for the position of: 

PROJECT MANAGER, Based in Kolaka Utara (Job Code: PMSIPP)
 
The Project Manager will be responsible for the implementation of a project designed to increase the sustainability of patchouli cultivation and distillation in the Kolaka Utara and Pula Buton regions of Sulawesi Tenggara. The Project Manager is responsible for implementation and revision of program documents (including training curriculum), negotiating with local government, managing project budgeting, reporting and the supervision of four full-time employees and rotating interns. The Project Manager will also provide Farmer Field School training and collect farmer data when necessary. 

Task, Authority and Responsibility
A.      To increase sustainability of patchouli production in the Kolaka Utara and Buton regions:
·         Securing ratified local government buy-in for large-scale planting and maintenance of sustainable distillation fuel wood trees;
·         Developing sustainable fuel wood plans with local patchouli growers (together with local government lands resulting in the planting and maintenance of 21,700 trees);
·         Supervising the development and implementing of training in Good Agriculture Practice for 800 farmers;
·         Supervising the development and implementing training for Good Environmental Practice and Good Financial Practice for 800 patchouli-grower families;
·         Supervising efficiency improvements to be made in 40 traditional patchouli stills.
B.       Supporting the development of traceability software that will track all participating growers:
·         Cooperating with software developers to create forms and questionnaires to be used to collect data from farmers;
·         Holding socialization meetings with farmers to facilitate accurate data collection;
·         Collecting data from farmers and supervising the data collection of other team members;
·         Providing input to revise the data-collection platform created;
·         Continuously analyzing the data collected to identify anomaly, trends and progress.
C.       Project Management:
·         Submitting monthly activity reports;
·         Reviewing and confirming monthly financial reports submitted by the Administration Assistant;
·         Submitting quarterly progress reports that analyze collected data, track spending, summarize activities performed and identify challenges;
Employee Requirements
               University Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
               Minimum 5 years in project implementation for an NGO or relevant business
               Experience in agriculture-focused program or the essential oil industry
               Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with local government
               Experience report writing in Bahasa Indonesia and English
               Experience with agro-forestry programs
               Knowledge of patchouli cultivation and distillation
               Comfortable with technology and adoption of new programs and applications
               Comfortable working in the field, establishing relationships with farmers/ producers
               Ability to work legally in Indonesia
               Excellent communication skills in English: (written and spoken)
               Native spoken and written Bahasa Indonesia and expert knowledge of Indonesian government structure on local, provincial and national levels
               Strong coordination/ team cooperation skills
               Good leadership skills
               High level of integrity
               Active communicator
               Proven intercultural skills
               Excellent time management skills
               Expert use of MS Office
