Background
The Tanoto Foundation is
a philanthropic organization established by Mr. Sukanto Tanoto and Mrs. Tinah
Bingei Tanoto to participate in poverty alleviation
through
three pillars: Education, Empowerment, and Enhancement.
The Tanoto
Foundation was built upon the belief of the founders that every human being
deserves an equal right to obtain a better life. In doing so, they believe that
the main pillar in getting a better life is through education.
The Tanoto Foundation
Education Program aims to improve access to education and quality of education.
In improving access to education, scholarship programs are offered to students
at all levels of education. In improving quality of education, The Tanoto
Foundation implements multi-faceted institutional strengthening initiatives to
partners ranging from early childhood education centers to universities. Pelita
Pendidikan Program is a multi-year school development program that has been implemented
since
2010. To date, Tanoto Foundation has supported
more
than 300 schools, mainly elementary schools, in 3 provinces i.e. Jambi, Riau
and North Sumatra provinces.
Along with the principle
of continuous improvement, Tanoto Foundation plans to develop and expand its
Pelita Pendidikan program starting in January 2018. The program will be working
to improve access to quality primary and junior secondary school education in
five provinces. The provinces are North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, East or Central
Java, and East Kalimantan. The program will be working with central government,
district governments, schools and teacher training institutes to build their
capacity to support the provision of quality education. The program will be
building on its previous working in North Sumatra, Riau and Jambi and adopting
proven approaches to improving education quality similar of those developed
under other national or international programs.
Tanoto Foundation is
seeking staff with relevant capacity and experience as listed below to support
the implementation of the program. Candidates should attach a letter of
