Nutrition International (previously
Micronutrient Initiative, MI) is an international Non-Government Organization
(NGO) dedicated to ensuring that the world’s most vulnerable – especially women
and children in developing countries – get the vitamins and minerals they
need to survive and thrive. With headquarters in Ottawa, Canada MI maintains
regional offices in New Delhi, India and Nairobi, Kenya that manage our country
offices in Asia and Africa.
NI Indonesia has been
supporting the government in implementing an intervention on the Weekly Iron
and Folic Acid Supplementation for school-going adolescent girls to reduce the
prevalence of anemia among them in two pilot districts, Cimahi and Purwakarta
Districts, West Java province. In addition to continuing Weekly Iron Folic Acid
Supplementation (WIFAS) program for adolescent girls in the two demonstration
districts, NI is scaling up the WIFAS program among school-going adolescent
girls to two provinces, i.e. West Java and Banten.
To prepare for this
scale up, an advocacy meeting is planned to be conducted separately in the two
provinces for sharing the learning lessons from two demonstration districts and
improve coverage in other districts.
The activity will be conducted between January-February 2018.
