Consultant for Baseline Survey - Lutheran World Relief - Ende NTT

Lutheran World Relief (LWR), a U.S. based non-profit development organization engaged in seeking lasting solutions to poverty and reducing risk, is seeking a consultant to lead the baseline survey according to provided indicator in Ende, Nusa Tenggara Timur. 

Background

Lutheran World Relief started the Youth in Sustainable Agriculture and Entrepreneurship (here and after will refer as Youth SAE) in Detusoko, Ende, Flores. The project is aimed to increase number of youth both man and woman to participate in coffee due to promising income. The project has two outcomes: (1) Increased off-farm entrepreneurship opportunity. Off-farm entrepreneurship refer to all business activities using farming product. This includes but not limited to: café, selling roasted bean to local market, hotel or another potential buyer and agritourism; (2) Increased knowledge and skills of youth (men and women) on on-fam management On-farm management refer to all activities aimed to improve on-fam management, such as the land up to harvest the crops.

The project will be implemented in 3 villages in Detusoko: Wologai Tengah, Golulada and Detusoko Barat with main project participants are youth in age 18-35 years old. The project will target 600 project participants who directly received assistance such as training, IEC material distribution, technical assistance, group capacity building and financial support for starting the group entrepreneurship.

Objective:

The objective of baseline survey is to set up baseline data for project indicators. At the end of the assignment the consultant will deliver report based on LWR format report for baseline survey. The data collection will be covered:

·       Knowledge on good agriculture practice on coffee

·       Knowledge in agriculture entrepreneurship

·       Knowledge in integrated farming

·       Knowledge in food processing

·       Knowledge in access to market for coffee

·       Knowledge in agritourism

Time

Baseline survey should be started on first of March at the latest and report should be submitted on March 30^th. Field work should be less than 5 days.

Consultant main job-description  

The consultant assignment will be as follow:

·       Submit survey proposal along with methodology and budget

·       Manage data collection in the field

·       Analysis data and submit draft report

·       Submit final report to LWR

Consultant qualification

The consultant should have qualification as follow:

·       Understand local context is a must

·       Experience in conduct baseline survey or other research practice at least 3 years

·       Knowledge in agriculture and post-harvesting, including food processing is a plus
