Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik partner of
Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the
better. We've begun to build a national organisation that aims to be a
strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia
namely Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik. To this end,
Yayasan has been designated as a “Prospect Member of Save the Children”
which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in
strategic middle income countries.
Currently Save the Children’s programs in Indonesia is
implemented by Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik. We work in eleven provinces,
have staff of approximately 300 local professionals, and programming in
Child Protection, Education, Health and Nutrition,
Disaster Risk Reduction, and Humanitarian Response. We are currently
seeking to fill the following position:
Health Advocacy and Policy Advisor
– Advocacy & Campaign
1 position, based in Jakarta

ROLE PURPOSE:
Yayasan
Sayangi Tunas Cilik (YSTC) – Partner of Save the Children works in 9
provinces with a current staff complement of approximately 400 staff and
current
expenditure of approximately eleven million USD each year. One of key
initiative of YSTC is
Health Advocacy to support Government of Indonesia (GOI) in
addressing challenges around preventable causes of death for children
under five to ensure children can celebrate their fifth birthday. The
challenges include the common childhood illness, which
include childhood Pneumonia. The project will work with partners in
West Java province, which has close to national level of pneumonia
prevalence, sufficient domestic resources commitment and requires a
social accountability-governance model. The project will
also work in NTT province, one of the areas with highest prevalence of
pneumonia and will support overall program implementation of Child
Survival, aligning with the national policies and program.
Through close coordination
with the national and local government and all stakeholders, the health
advocacy initiative will aim for:
- Strengthened district government accountability mechanisms, ensuring improved expenditure of resources for every last child, strengthened health system to protect, prevent and treat common childhood illnesses including Pneumonia in West Java province
- Strengthened district implementation model of prevent, protect and treatment dimensions with specific focus on improving access to health services for hard to reach area of NTT province
- CSOs and partnerships Strengthened – accountability and monitoring processes with sustained engagement of coalitions/ CSOs on national health (RMNCH, Immunisation, PHC, GAVI) and nutrition policies
The Health Advocacy and
Policy Advisor is mainly responsible for contributing to the
effectiveness of the designing, managing and implementation of advocacy
strategies focused around child survival, resulting in demonstrable
policy and
practices shifts in national and local level that result positive
change for children.
Based on specific needs, the
post holders will also requested to provide advice to other health
projects that has health advocacy elements.
