Summary – NZMATES
NZMATES aims
to accelerate renewable energy (RE) development to improve access to energy on
Seram Island, in Maluku province. The main goal of NZMATES is to improve social
well-being and economic development in Maluku province by supporting and
enabling the sustainable development and utilization of the areas’ renewable
energy resources for the benefit of local communities. The key objective of NZMATES is to provide
technical assistance to support the uptake of affordable, reliable, and renewable energy in
off-grid and grid-connected areas in Seram Island, Maluku Province. NZMATES
will focus on supporting the development of grid-connected and off-grid
renewable energy projects, by partnering with PLN and EBTKE respectively. The
five-year program is funded by the New Zealand Government and is implemented by
Infratec in partnership with Mercy Corps Indonesia.
Deputy Program Manager NZMATES (Senior
Management Role)
The Deputy Program Manager (DPM) will be based at Mercy Corps
Indonesia’s office in Ambon and travel regularly to program locations in Seram.
S/he will support the Program Manager with overall management and supervision.
As such, s/he will be play a leadership role in: strategic planning, guiding
implementation, budget management, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL),
reporting, staff supervision, stakeholder engagement and coordination, and
external communications. S/he will support the NZMATES team to ensure adherence
to quality standards and compliance with donor regulations and reporting
requirements. It is the intention for the DPM to transfer into the Program Manager
role in the course of the program.
Qualifications:
· Master Degree in renewable energy technology,
socio-economic development, or similar field;
· 3+ years’ experience in
socio-economic development and/or renewable energy development programming;
· Experience working with
international humanitarian or development organization (NGO or other);
· Extensive experience in project
management: supervising staff and implementing partners, managing budgets,
ensuring compliance with operational procedures and standards, planning,
monitoring progress, reporting, etc;
· Thorough understanding of
monitoring and evaluation (M&E);
· Strong communications skills and
experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
· Ability to foster positive and
effective working relationships with government, private sector, media and
civil society actors;
· Fluency in English verbal and
written communication is mandatory;
· Strong writing skills (in
English), including demonstrated ability to write quality reports;
· Ability to take initiative, to
anticipate and solve problems; meet deadlines, work under pressure, work
independently on multiple tasks with limited supervision, work cooperatively
with team members and partners;
· Ability to be flexible,
open-minded and creative;
· Strong familiarity with Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, and internet.
