GGGI is looking for a Senior Associate - Communication

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies.


GGGI’s role and objective in Indonesia is to assist the Government of Indonesia in delivering green growth by driving investment and designing green projects with social, environmental and economic benefits for the people of Indonesia.

GGGI Indonesia is looking for a Senior Associate for Communication/Communication Officer to support the Country Team in implementing the activities. The Senior Associate will report to and work closely with the Senior Communication Officer on all communication-related activities in country to promote the work of GGGI and its partners, with focus on understanding the fast-changing communication environment in Indonesia and at GGGI, and continually working to plan and implement media and social media activities aimed at enhancing the visibility of both GGGI and its partners to support the strategic goals of green growth. The position holder understands the needs at the country level and is able to connect GGGI and the joint program with the needs and priorities of the goals and objectives of the country program.

PURPOSE

The Communication Officer shall support the overall communication work under close coordination with the Senior Communication Officer, including the development, execution and implementation of the country program communications strategy relating to internal and external communications within GGGI and to GGGI’s stakeholders. The communication work will include but is not limited to the development, production and dissemination of a broad range of communication materials based on technical reports and other materials, as well as the promotion of the Green Growth Program (GGP) through events/workshops. All products will be published and distributed in Indonesian and English for domestic and international audiences, including through the websites of GGGI and BAPPENAS.

The position holder will also carry specific responsibilities in digital communication, including analyzing and providing substantive inputs on the development, implementation, management, monitoring and reporting of a range of online/digital communication channels that are vital to meet the country program goals.


ENGAGEMENT

  • Support the engagement with the Communication Department at HQ in Seoul, ensuring all communication outputs are in line with GGGI Corporate Communication Policy.
  • Support the engagement with all local partners, relevant stakeholders and external providers, if any, to ensure all deliverables fit within the GGGI Indonesia communication strategy and with the GGGI Corporate Communication Policy.


SCOPE OF WORK AND DELIVERY

  • Under close coordination with the Senior Communication Officer, work closely with all GGGI Indonesia team members at national and subnational levels to develop and disseminate communication products.
  • Develop and execute a social media strategy for the organization, including smaller event-specific social media plans for GGGI–facilitated events.
  • Develop, manage, coordinate and disseminate digital information  through social media channels (GGGI Indonesia’s Twitter and Facebook accounts) and websites—including GGGI’s website (www.gggi.org) and GGP Website (http://greengrowth.bappenas.go.id)—promoting initiatives of GGGI and its partners. This will include the development and execution of regular updates of the websites, including writing regular blog posts and editing posts received from others.
  • Actively identify opportunities for news stories about GGGI, the GGP, and green growth and support the development of these stories.
  • Support the development of non-digital communication products including, but not limited to, products such as reports, fact sheets, PowerPoints, press releases, (internal) newsletters, public relations content, translations, briefings, audio-visual products, etc.
  • Initiate, develop and manage a local Indonesian network of journalists, thought leadership platforms, websites and publications to effectively re-broadcast green growth messages to a broader audience.
  • Support and help organize GGP workshops and other events.
  • As a member of a small but diverse program team, the Communication Officer will have multiple responsibilities and will need to be flexible and responsive to sometimes rapidly changing needs and tight deadlines.


Qualifications/Experience/Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, international relations, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, including a good working knowledge of printed, visual, and digital media, particularly conventional media and social media.
  • A keen interest and creativity in using innovative modern technologies to communicate key messages.
  • Ability to coordinate with the different teams within GGGI, as well as with various ministries and other GGGI stakeholders to access newsworthy information and to cooperate on development of products/ deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A strategic and proactive attitude, especially when it comes to the development of news items and harnessing different media to promote the work of GGGI
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoints and other tools for events planning and media engagements
  • Highly organized with a keen eye for detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multi-cultural teams
  • Strong oral and written English, as well as the essential fluency in Bahasa Indonesia
  • Proven interest in environmental issues and sustainable development
  • Experience of working in an international organization or firm is an advantage
  • Experience with Office365 system including SharePoint, and good IT skills is an advantage.
