ICCO is
running a program on Production and Marketing of high premium rice in central
Java. The program which intended to increase farmers' income requires
strengthening the role of farmer group association (GAPOKTAN) so that they can
take active part of market chain of premium rice. Therefore, strengthening
effort for Gapoktan is an important part of the program.
Strengthening Gapoktan in the project is carried out in various ways, such as: for internal institutional strengthening, including accountability and transparency training; Training and workshop on business plan development; and strengthening networking, access to markets and financial institutions. Coaching is a mentoring activity directly in the field to ensure the achievement of the expected result.
Work
Profile of the specialist will include :
1.
Business Plan Development
The specialist will help and ensure all 58 Gapoktans
appointed to be able to develop their business plan, implement and review it
regularly during the period of the project. The activity will include workshop
and business coaching.
A
series of Workshop on business plan development will be conducted in several
cities in Central java to accommodate the participants number and domicile. The first workshops will focus on raising
motivation and entrepreneurship, while the second workshop will be on business
plan development.
The
Business coaching will be implemented as a follow up of the workshop, by
visiting each gapoktan and assisting them in developing and implementing their
business. The scope of coaching is the planning, execution and monitoring of the
business. Output of business coaching is every Gapoktan has executed business
plan and the business of premium rice continues to grow.
2.
Training Internal management and accountability
This
training is internal and financial management training. Training will be held 2
times, each training 2 days for 58 Gapoktan in Central Java.
Minimum Requirement
-
At least 7 years’ experience in rice or agriculture development
-
Relevant educational background in agriculture field or other natural
resources management
-
Substantial professional experience in providing training and coaching
on business development and management.

Have a strong skills in agriculture business calculation
-
Have a strong
understanding of the conditions of gender inequality in agriculture sector in Indonesia
-
Good experience in working with local service providers, private
sectors, government and NGO
-
Good experience with reporting
-
Experience with multi-stakeholder processes
-
Excellent language skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Local
knowledge and excellent local language is favorable.

Knowledge of Planning Monitoring Evaluation (PME) systems of projects.
-
Knowledge of financial aspects related to implementation of project.
-
Negotiation, networking, facilitation and communication skills.
-
Prepared to travel frequently in the project area.

Ability and willingness to work with people of different backgrounds and
to contribute constructively to a working environment based on mutual respect
and trust.
