The Zoological Society of London is an international wildlife conservation
organization with a focus on science-based and pragmatic solutions. ZSL has
been active in Indonesia for about 10 years, with a particular focus on the
overlap between industrial development and biodiversity conservation. ZSL
Indonesia is based in Bogor, West Java, with existing field projects in
Jambi and South Sumatera. We are now looking for:

Key Purpose of the Job
Governance and Institution Manager will be responsible for supporting the
Deputy Project Director, Government Lead, and technical partners to
implement the work outlined in Component 2.
This position is part of the UKCCU/NICFI Project staffing in South Sumatra.
The UKCCU/NICFI Project works with the Government of South Sumatra, national
and district level governments, communities and the private sector to to
facilitate and support the government, private sector and local communities,
to establish and pilot the sustainable landscape management partnership
approach in the Sembilang-Dangku landscape of South Sumatra. The proposed
impact of this project is to achieve "Inclusive economic growth and
community prosperity, biodiversity conservation, forest protection and
restoration, and the ending of deforestation, peatland drainage and
wildfires that reduces land-based Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions".
The Governance & Institution Manager will be based in Palembang, South
Sumatera.
Responsibility for Resources
People
The Governance & Institution Manager will report directly to the Deputy
Project Director, and indirectly to Project Director.
Responsibilities
The post-holder will ensure that operations in Palembang is in compliance
with ZSL and the contractual agreement with the UK government. S/he will be
responsible for supervising Government Liaison Provincial and Government
Liaison District.
Main duties and key responsibilities
1. To lead on development of an institutional basis (PSU-PIU and
District Working Groups) for Sustainable Landscape Management that enables
broad participation of key stakeholders.
2. To organize development of a model and sub-national policy framework
for Sustainable Landscape Management.
3. Ensure that sub- national government programs and project
interventions are aligned
4. Establish the South Sumatra Partnership for Ecoregion and Landscape
Management and associated multi-stakeholder forum.
5. To lead on a policy document to setting out an operational concept
for sustainable ecoregion and landscape management (Master Plan) which is
endorsed by key stakeholders in the landscape.
6. To ensure government programmes for FY 2018 will be aligned to the
goals of landscape management, at least in the pilot landscape.
7. To design the sustainable landscape monitoring system and dashboard
and operational by the start of 2018.
8. Responsible in managing partners (ensure the partners' activities
and deliverables are on schedule and report submission on timely manner).
9. Facilitate coordination between sub-national landscape institution
(PSU, PIU and district working groups) in Sembilang Dangku and wide
provincial institution such as KOLEGA Sumsel, and relevant national
institution such as KSDAE (KLHK), BRG, National Working Group on
Social Forestry (KLHK), TN Berbak Sembilang, BKSDA etc
10. Facilitate capacity building of sub-national governance on SLM,
institutional management and resource mobilization
11. Other general project-related responsibilities as and when required.
