Plan International is an independent child
rights and humanitarian organization committed to children living a life free
of poverty, violence and injustice. We have been building powerful
partnerships for children for more than 75 years, and are now active in more
than 70 countries. In Indonesia Plan International has been working since 1969
and currently works in 7 provinces and sponsors more than 40,000 children.
Collaboration
between Plan International Indonesia and Plan International UK supported by
AstraZeneca, implementing “Young Health Programme” which aims to prevent or reduce risk behaviors which can lead to
NCDs among young people (aged 10-24) in Jakarta, Mataram and Bogor. The Project will runs
from January 2018 to December 2020.
The Young Health Programme (YHP) aims to support the
health rights and wellbeing of young people in marginalized communities
worldwide through research, advocacy and on-the-ground program which are
focused on the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), mainly cancer,
cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetes, are a
major challenge to health and development in the 21st century. They are the
leading cause of death and disability worldwide, exacting a heavy and growing
toll on the physical health and economic security of all countries,
particularly low and middle-income countries (LMICs). NCDs perpetuate and
entrench poverty within households and communities, and increase inequalities
within and between countries.
In Indonesia, there are more than 65 million young
people, defined as those between 10 and 24 years of age, representing about
28% of the population. For the next 15 years or so, they will constitute the
main driver of economic growth and social change in Indonesia. However, the
priority needs of young people in Indonesia today span a range of health
issues, including non-communicable diseases, lack of knowledge on SRHR, mental
health concerns, substance use and violence, all contributing to increased
morbidity and mortality not only during adolescence but also later in their
lives.
Plan Indonesia seeks to procure the services
of an independent consultant to design, develop, and implement the Project
