Rikolto-Indonesia (formerly VECO Indonesia), the regional
branch of the international NGO Rikolto, having its office in Denpasar,
Bali - Indonesia, committed to the development of a sustainable
agricultural value chain and food system is now recruiting an Indonesian
National for the position of:
SEAWEED SECTOR COORDINATOR
Based in Denpasar, Bali - Indonesia
General Overview of the Position
Seaweed
Sector Coordinator is responsible for this specific commodity
(seaweed), although the incumbent is also required to familiarize
him/her self with other commodities such as coffee, cocoa, rice,
cinnamon and for all upcoming Rikolto Indonesia program in general. The
incumbent should pro-actively represent Rikolto Indonesia on a local and
national level both with internal and external partner/stakeholders in
the area of his/her responsibility.
Seaweed Sector
Coordinator plays an active role in contributing ideas, program
reporting and monitoring evaluation of the program, as well becomes a
commodity-expert in the whole agriculture value-chain, with particular
attention to sustainable practices.
Seaweed
Sector Coordinator reports directly to Program Director to ensure that
program activities is in line with the respective donors/partners. In
coordination with the Program Director, he/she contributes to make
decisions related to the programme and activities and responsible to
implement the program in collaboration with other technical staffs and
relevant partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning and Implementation :
•
Coordinate and ensure the implementation of the seaweed program of
Rikolto Indonesia; in coordination with other technical staff member to
improve and develop program and its activities;
• Ensure that the program to achieve synergy and integration among other program activities.
•
Facilitating of and participating in program event, dialogues on
agricultural chain development among stakeholders in related sectors;
• Identifying and developing partnerships with relevant stakeholders for concrete collaboration to scale up the program results;
• Promoting, developing and implementing sustainable agriculture and innovative agribusiness models;
•
Report and discuss program planning and progress with Program Director
and provide regular updates to the Rikolto programme team.
•
Support and coordinate program planning and budgeting of the partners,
and ensuring the compliance to the program direction and the
administrative and financial regulations.
Report - Monitoring and Evaluation
•
Prepare and produce regular narrative reports related to the program
activities: update, provide ideas and recommendation as necessary in
base on field observations.
• Contribute for monitoring and
evaluation of the program implementation in the sector, in coordination
with the PLA Coordinator;
• Contributing to Rikolto’s
communication programme (website, magazine, Facebook, Instagram, special
publication materials, etc.) in coordination with the Communication
team.
Network / Stakeholder Management
•
Monitoring developments and opportunities in the value chains in the
related sector including potential partners, markets and potentially new
products;
• Facilitating business links between farmer
organizations and the private actors, financial institutions, decision
makers and commodity networks;
• Facilitating farmer organisations and private actors in adopting inclusive business practices;
• Regularly communicate, coordinate, engage and ensure synergy with the local and provincial governments.
Operational and Team Management
•
Managing the day to day administration and financial administration of
the program and to follow both Rikolto and Donor administration policy
and procedures.
• Coordinate regularly with other sector managers/coordinator and support staffs.
• Contributing to the fundraising activities of Rikolto Indonesia; especially the Seaweed sector.
• Taking the responsibility to protect the dignity, values, identity and reputation of Rikolto Indonesia;
Requirement:
Education and Experiences:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Economics, Environmental Sciences and Business or equivalent.
•
About 5 years work experience in agriculture value-chain, rural
development, sector development, agricultural development or
equivalent..
Specific Knowledge:
• Concepts of sustainable agriculture, value chain development and inclusive business in the respective sector;
• Farmer organization development strategies and tools;
• Agriculture commodity development and marketing;
• Monitoring, evaluation & learning tools and methods;
• Knowledge of the actors in the sector at local and national level.
Specific skills:
• Communication and networking skills
• Lobby and advocacy skills;
• Being able to engage with government, private sector and other stakeholders in a value chain setting;
• Excellent writing and reporting skills (in Bahasa Indonesia and English);
• Facilitation skills to assist partners and organize stakeholder platforms, meetings, workshops, etc. ;
• Affinity with sustainable, human and environmentally friendly practices.
General skills:
• Good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Office365;
• Excellent proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia (speaking and writing);
• Good proficiency in English (in reading, speaking, understanding and writing).
