Project Overview-
Search
for Common Ground (Indonesia) invites applications from creative
agencies/firms or individual consultants to produce and promote videos
for an online campaign which aims to promote peace and interfaith
tolerance to Indonesian youth.
Background
In
recent months, the issues of religion and religious blasphemy have
become gained momentum in Indonesia’s civil society landscape. From the
case that saw Meiliana, a Buddhist with Chinese heritage jailed under
the charge of blasphemy, the HTI (a hardline Muslim organization)
flag-burning incident which caused huge uproar, to the video by two
comedians—Coki Pardede and Tretan Muslim—lightly making jokes touching
on the issue of religion that led to both comedians resigning from the
entertainment industry after the fierce backlash they received.
Search
for Common Ground (Search) Indonesia believes that humor and social
media, when used right, can be powerful tools to spread peaceful
messages, including in supporting religious freedom and interfaith
tolerance. Through the SOLID-ID: Strengthening Religious Freedom in
Indonesia project, Search will produce strategic media content on
religious freedom, in the form of video, infographics, editorial
articles, and comic strips on social media that promote peace, to be
disseminated through social media and local partners. In order to carry
out this purpose, Search deems it necessary to collaborate with a local
partner that focuses on producing positive and engaging content,
particularly in the forms of videos, on social media.
Organization
Search
is an international peacebuilding organization that strives to
transform the way the world deals with conflict, away from adversarial
approaches; towards collaborative problem-solving. Search has been
working in Indonesia since 2002, and works with governments, civil
society, state institutions, youth, women, media organizations and other
stakeholder groups to promote peace, reconciliation, tolerance, and
collaboration across dividing lines.
Search,
in collaboration with local partners, supports the process of building
