Catholic Relief
Services (CRS) is a US – based humanitarian and development organization
working in over 100 countries around the world to assist people victims of
disasters, people in need and the disadvantaged regardless of race, belief or
nationality. CRS has been operating in Indonesia since 1957 under the
Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Social Affairs to provide both
humanitarian response and long-term development to the most vulnerable
communities. CRS Indonesia’s current strategy includes emergency preparedness
and response, disaster risk reduction, and integrated agriculture and livelihoods.
CRS/Indonesia is currently hiring for Emergency Appeal Coordinator to be
based in Jakarta.
This
position focuses on the overall coordination for the Emergency Appeal,
including collaboration of in-country members and CIMOs, communication,
reporting, and organizational and technical assistance. The position also serves as liaison between KARINA and other Caritas
International Member Organizations communication
personnel in relation to the emergency response.
This position
will report to Country Manager.
Specific
Responsibilities:
- Identify the key audiences/colleagues/partners who are the primary recipients of communications and content needed from the emergency response and establish an efficient way of sharing information directly to them on regular intervals. Coordinate calls or meetings with leadership and communications peers at partners/dioceses/Caritas network if and when needed to discuss communications plans and priorities.
- Support Karina in communication with other CIMOs by liasing between Karina and other CIMO communication personnel while also building the capacity of the Karina coordination team to do so.
- Ensure that Caritas Members meet regularly to share information about the response, how best to collaborate, and how best to coordinate. Arrange a regular meeting schedule and organize minutes to document action plans for follow up.
- Ensure that the Emergency Appeal is closely coordinated with other humanitarian actors working in the same areas and sectors. Represent Caritas at coordination meetings.
- Provide Caritas Members with communication materials regularly based on interviews with, and photographs of, people supported by the appeal.
- Support the Karina Response Coordinator in daily communications with field teams to collect information on program updates, operational challenges and overall programming.
- Ensure that progress and final reports on the Emergency Appeal, including audited accounts, are submitted to CI in accordance with the CI toolkit and as specified in the corresponding EAs.
- Provide technical to jointly assess, agree and ensure the technical support required to implement the response

Ensure emergency
response is implemented professionally within the agreed time and budget by
working closely with the EC Program Coordinator.

Provide updated
emergency statistics, programming details and other key information in the form
of Situation Reports and other pieces.
QUALIFICATIONS
and EXPERIENCES:
·
Graduate in
social science or related field, Master’s Degree in Development, Communication
and International Relations is preferable.
·
At least 3 years
professional experience in the technical area of Development and Communication in
management position, preferably in international NGOs
·
High quality writing skills
·
Strong interpersonal communications skills for
interacting well and positively with others in a stressful, fast-paced environment.
·
Flexibility to changing circumstances and
priorities.
·
Experience producing high quality communications
materials -- in print and/or online.
·
Experience in project management and
coordinator.
·
Understand of Caritas and its structure
preferred.
·
Strong ability to work independently, prioritize
and multi-task.
·
Demonstrates a proactive, collaborative and
flexible approach to work.
·
Willing to work under pressure/ability to work
on short deadlines as needed.
·
Fluency in English.

Proficient in PC software packages

Required
Foreign Language: Proficiency in English, both oral and
writing. (mandatory)
