Policy & Research Specialist – PDQ


Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik partner of Save the Children in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect Member”. As ‘Prospect Member’ Indonesia has been identified as part of the next way of new member development, which focuses on strengthening and localizing our voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Indonesia has been authorized by member ballot to start fundraising locally as a first step towards building a financially sustainable local organization. Future work will also involve developing a strong local governance structure and building key partnerships with local government, the private sector, local civil society among others. Success of the pilot phase will set the Indonesia on a pathway to full membership. We are currently seeking to fill the following position:

 
 
Policy & Research Specialist – PDQ
Code : PRS-PDQ
1 position based in Jakarta


ROLE PURPOSE:
As a member of the Program Development and Quality team, this Policy & Research Specialist will be responsible for coordinating the design, implementation and management of various research and evaluation activities.  This is including policy analysis specifically around child right issues in Indonesia. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master’s degree in social science or a related field (such as international development, program evaluation, research methods, or statistics)
  • Minimum 5 years of working experiences in the NGO, university or government with significant experience in designing and leading on quantitative and qualitative research, participatory action research and/or monitoring and evaluation
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including experience using software packages such as SPSS/STATA/R
  • Proven experience in preparing clear and quality research reports
  • Experiences working with high level government agencies, civil societies, NGOs and academics on issues related to one of Save the children technical areas (health, education child protection, child poverty and child rights) is desirable
  • Experience in working on researches involving children is desirable
  • Advanced fluency in both Indonesia and English
  • Excellent listening and inter-personal skills; ability to work well with disadvantaged, deprived, marginalized and diversified populations
  • Logical thinker and detail orientated

Child Safeguarding:
Contribute to the overall implementation of Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) within the response including ensuring CSP integration in all project activities including for target beneficiaries. We need to keep children safe so our selection process, which includes rigorous background checks, reflects our commitment to the protection of children from abuse.
