Save the Children
in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a
national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and
self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC
Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect Member”. As
‘Prospect
Member’ Indonesia has been identified as part of the next way of new
member development, which focuses on strengthening and localizing our
voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Indonesia has
been authorized by member ballot to start fundraising
locally as a first step towards building a financially sustainable
local organization. Future work will also involve developing a strong
local governance structure and building key partnerships with local
government, the private sector, local civil society
among others. Success of the pilot phase will set the Indonesia on a
pathway to full membership. We are currently seeking to fill the
following position:
SENIOR FIELD MANAGER – CENTRAL SULAWESI
1 position based in North Donggala
and 1 position based in Palu

ROLE PURPOSE:
The
Senior Field Manager is accountable for effective delivery of the
Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik (YSTC) humanitarian response in their
operational area. They
oversee both the program management and support services functions to
meet children's needs in line with YSTC standards, protocols and the
humanitarian imperative. They also lead on senior government and donor
representation at their location and ensure cross
sector collaboration among program and operational staff. The
postholder will ensure humanitarian programme activities are effective
and aligned with the response strategy to meet designated goals and
objectives of YSTC, its donors, and the needs of the target
population to increase impact and enable positive change for children.

Staff reporting to this post: +6 directly, overseeing a team of 50-150 staff
Budget Responsibilities:
US$ 4 - 8 Million per year
QUALIFICATION
- Educated to Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent field experience
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
- Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia, both verbal and written
- Minimum of five years’ experience managing teams in humanitarian preparedness and response in complex/fragile contexts

Previous first phase emergency response experience
- Experience in disaster risk reduction programming
- Extensive on the ground experience in multi-sector humanitarian response, including cash transfer programs
- A good knowledge of logistics management and previous experience of overseeing logistics functions
- Solid budgeting skills and knowledge of key donor regulations
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an both national and international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Knowledge of Save the Children's global practices and procedures and ways of working with children
- Willingness to work and travel in often difficult and insecure environments

Previous experience of project management, including multi sector programmes

Budget management experience including institutional donors
·
Security management experience in insecure environments
·
Field level representation with key stakeholders and co-ordination with other NGOs/UN

Demonstrable experience of MEAL and beneficiary accountability

Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
·
Excellent communication skills
·
Strong influencing skills and experience in advocacy
·
Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
·
The
capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in
difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.

Commitment
to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding
of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this
continues
to underpin our support
Desirable:

Multi-site management experience
·
Experience of delivering large scale institutional donor programmes (OFDA, DFID, ECHO, DEC)

National level representation with key stakeholders and co-ordination with other NGOs/UN
