Consultant for WASH IEC Materials Development (INT5361)

About Us
Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty. That means we tackle the inequality that keeps people poor. Together we save, protect and rebuild lives. When disaster strikes, we help people build better lives for themselves, and for others. We take on issues like land rights, climate change and discrimination against women. And we won’t stop until every person on the planet can enjoy life free from poverty.
Oxfam GB is a member of international confederation of 19 organisations working together with partners and local communities in the areas of humanitarian, development and campaigning, in more than 90 countries.
Oxfam in Indonesia
Oxfam has been working in Indonesia to contribute towards finding lasting solutions to poverty and suffering in the country since 1957.  Oxfam has been supporting local and national partners in many parts of the country to realize our shared vision to ensure women’s rights to a sustainable livelihood, to be heard and to have access to basic social services, are respected, in particular during shocks or disasters. We are presently implementing a wide range of sustainable development and disaster preparedness initiatives in seven provinces. Our principal Government partner is the Ministry of Social Affair.

Background
Oxfam in Indonesia seamlessly blends humanitarian and development efforts so every program resolves immediate humanitarian issues while laying the groundwork for long-term impact. Oxfam’s humanitarian programs in Indonesia has gone through a period of transforming from being most operational into preparedness capacity to respond where the most shifting is in supporting partner’s lead in responses. However, there are remaining questions as to whether this investment has paid off, particularly in the case of local NGO partners.
Oxfam in Indonesia emphasizes local participation and strategic partnerships, and a focus on civil society skills through its unique partnership platform Humanitarian Knowledge Hub (HKH). In this way, through HKH we empower partners to find, design and implement humanitarian work and for generations to come.
Humanitarian Knowledge Hub seeks to empower its partners and to build an improved networking among others. It is an initiative to bridge stronger linked of partner organization by supporting a multi partners resource development and capacity strengthening that will help to grow and sustain beyond project implementation.
The Lombok earthquake on August 5, 2018, is a good experience for HKH, where the Indonesian government declared that there should be no international assistance and foreign institutions that may enter to make a disaster response. North Lombok District and East Lombok District are the worst affected areas of the earthquake, which is the working area of Oxfam and its partners from various programs both from the Gender Justice Program, the RIC Program and the Economic Justice Program which is 100% affected. Oxfam and its partner network in Indonesia collaborate together as the Humanitarian Response Team Partners Network (JMK Team) to conduct disaster response and be actively involved in all clusters. The Oxfam Partner network develops into a collective work of Oxfam partner networks in all sectors and cluster, especially Wash and EFSVL, which are Oxfam's mandates. Model and knowledge in emergency response JMK – Oxfam, need to be documented as media sharing and learning to be able to disseminate the best learning to all parties through documentation books and videos.
