in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a
national organization that aims to be a strong, local, and
self-sustaining voice for children in Indonesia. To this end, SC
Indonesia has been designated as a “Prospect Member”. As
‘Prospect
Member’ Indonesia has been identified as part of the next way of new
member development, which focuses on strengthening and localizing our
voice for children in strategic middle income countries. Indonesia has
been authorized by member ballot to start fundraising
locally as a first step towards building a financially sustainable
local organization. Future work will also involve developing a strong
local governance structure and building key partnerships with local
government, the private sector, local civil society
among others. Success of the pilot phase will set the Indonesia on a
pathway to full membership. We are currently seeking to fill the
following position:
Program Officer – Program for Refugee
1 position based in
Jakarta
ROLE PURPOSE :
Yayasan
Sayangi Tunas Cilik – Partner of Save the Children implement program
for refugee to improve the resiliency of refugee children in 2 shelters
in South Jakarta and other refugee children in Jakarta through the
establishment and strengthening of child protection mechanisms within
the care arrangement and in the surrounding community. Yayasan Sayangi
Tunas Cilik (YSTC) has developed a comprehensive
child protection strategy that identifies existing gaps in a systematic
manner and is referred to the UNHCR Child Protection Framework. The
strategy includes: child-friendly procedures; communication with
children; child protection assessments; best interest
determination (BID); protection monitoring; interim protection measures
through assistance, resilience-building; community-based protection
mechanisms; access to education; alternative care; partnerships for
child protection; child participation; comprehensive
solutions, and capacity building. Together with other partners, YSTC
will explore ways to effectively advocate for the full adherence of
national and local authorities to the UN Convention on the Rights of the
Child, of which Indonesia is a party, including
children’s access to health, education, shelter and basic services.
The
Project Officer will support Project Coordinator in implementing all
activities of the program for refugee in the targeted refugee Children’s
Home in South Jakarta. This position will be based out in a joint
office and training center, in South Jakarta; together with CWS and CRS.
S/he will be responsible for field activities related to programmatic
implementation and monitoring of all project activities,
S/he will also involve in the development of the project work plan.
S/he will report to the Project Coordinator, and be supported by the
support service team of Greater Jakarta Office.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :
- Minimum Bachelors University Degree or equivalent experiences in relevant field
- At least 3 years working experiences with non-government organizations or development works
- Preferable with 2 years experiences in refugee programs with local or international NGOs.
- An understanding of children’s refugee issues; in particularly related to refugee in Indonesia.
- Knowledge and skills in methods to promote adolescent or youth empowerment
- Proven skills to develop an implementation plan and then efficiently implement activities
- Demonstrated ability to write high quality reports and other project documents in Indonesian and English
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in Indonesian written and spoken, fluency in English written and spoken
- Understand on Farsi, Somali language is preferable

Previous experiences working in urban area (Jakarta) is an advantage
·
Previous experience working with local governments
·
Good knowledge and ability to work to mobilize communities
·
Good communications skills including experience in training and mentoring
·
Good organizational skills
·
Has practical financial management experience
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
- Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural team.
