through management of protected reserved area, vital species habitat
conservation and local communities empowerment.
We currently have an opening for:
MANGROVE SCIENCE COORDINATOR
The
Mangrove Science Coordinator coordinate and implement the scientific
aspects of the mangrove ecosystem restoration and conservation
activities, focusing
on all MERA Project Sites. S/He will also provide limited support to
other mangrove site-based projects.
Guided
by MERA Conservation and Planning Manager at TNC’s Indonesia Program in
Jakarta, S/He supports work planning and budgeting as well as preparing
technical/scientific
reports. While implementing the work plan, S/He monitors progress and
proposes adaptations of the work plan (on mangrove science components)
to supervisors if required.
The Mangrove Science Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation on the data compilation, collection,
field survey, monitoring and producing science/program report related to MERA Project Science component.
The Mangrove Science Coordinator supports the development of the report for conservation component and management teams as
well as assisting in the preparation of proposals. S/He will present the Science/Program to visiting donors and partners.
The
Mangrove Science Coordinator will be supervised by MERA Conservation
and Planning Manager, and S/He will adopt guidance
from MERA Science/Program Division. S/He will be based in Jakarta
office with frequent travel to MERA Project sites and other TNC sites.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in marine science or biology or
forestry and at least have 4 years of experience in mangrove
conservation work or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
- Experience with GIS software and data to create maps and other spatial planning tools is preferred.
- Experience conducting surveys, recording data and writing project reports.
- Demonstrated experience in MS Office, Word and Excel. May require Power Point and Data Base Management skills.
- Experienced in working with a result-oriented environment.
