Background:
Launched in 2005, the Citi
Microentrepreneurship Awards (CMA) program is an initiative aimed at raising
awareness about the importance of micro-entrepreneurship and microfinance in
supporting financial inclusion and economic empowerment of low-income
individuals. It also aims to highlight the important role micro-entrepreneurs
play and contribute in their local economies; catalyze innovations among
microfinance institutions (MFIs) that will lead to an increase in their
outreach and their micro-entrepreneur portfolios; and to leverage awareness of
policymakers within the government of Indonesia towards enabling a supportive
environment for micro-entrepreneurs through a conducive set of regulations.
Purpose / Project Description:
For the 2018 Awards (awarded in
2019), there will be 9 awards, which are divided into 5 category awards, 3
special awards, and 1 appreciation award for the best MFI. 800
micro-entrepreneurs would be nominated by the MFIs, after which the 800
nominees would be shortlisted into 50 selected micro-entrepreneurs, and then
further selection process will be conducted to select 20 micro-entrepreneurs
and 20 of their MFI representatives that will be invited to Jakarta to attend a
business boot camp and award ceremony. Then 8 winners were selected, as well as
1 appreciation for the Microfinance Institution of the Year award. The 8
winners will get cash prizes, notebooks, smartphones, and training and
mentoring.

Objectives:
An integral part of the communication strategy and outreach
program is getting the highest visibility regarding the winners of the CMA
2018-2019. It is important to expand the news about CMA winners and it is
important to broaden the coverage of lesson learns or the success stories of
the winners and their impressions and messages of participating in CMA activities.
As such, the program team has decided that it will be necessary to include a
Media Consultant who will be responsible for handling media placements.

Activities:
Reporting directly to the program’s Communications Officer, the
media consultant will support the program’s following communications
activities:
•
Organize CMA 2018-2019 winners’
exposure, develop their stories and published it in National Newspaper
•
Organize the advertisement for CMA
2018-2019 program in National Newspaper
•
Monitor and capture the printed
publications to prove that the appointed media partners had completed their
work.
•
The publication material will
produced by consultant and approved by CMA team.
