VACANCY: Research Technician II, based in Yogyakarta

CIFOR-ICRAF is looking for a:
Research Technician II

 

Overview

This position will provide support to research using digital tools for agriculture that will involve deployment and maintenance of  electronic hardware for efficient water management.

CIFOR-ICRAF, acting on behalf of IRRI, is seeking to recruit a qualified Research Technician II to provide relevant services as summarized below:

Summary of responsibilities

· Assist in research activities using digital tools, including installation, monitoring and maintenance of digital tools hardware based on the planned research activities and SOPs

· Support the demonstration, deployment and maintenance of digital tools for efficient water and nutrient management

·  Execute routine protocols on nutrient and water management on field trials and provide feedback on field test issues and learnings to the technical team.

·  Support researchers and scientists in implementing surveys

·  Provide timely, consistent and accurate information to direct supervisor to ensure smooth flow of research activities (i.e. availability and purchase of supplies, conflicts and other issues) to ensure that research objectives and SOPs are followed

· Installation of digital tools sensors and gateway in the field.

· Carry out regular monitoring and maintenance of the digital tools’ hardware

· Contribute to writing reports on the tools’ performance as well as research results

· Support technical workshops or training as part of capacity building for stakeholders

 Requirements

Education, knowledge and experience

·         High School/Vocational high school graduate with at least 2 years of relevant work experience

·         Experience in electronics debugging

·         Knowledge in using basic measurement equipment(Digital Multimeter)

·         Basic knowledge in MS Office programs

·         Knowledge in the use of Arduino/Energia programming Integrated Development Environment

·         Basics of C programming language

 

 

Terms and conditions

·         This is a Local position. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency, commensurate with skills and experience.

·         The appointment will be for a period of 1 year, inclusive of a 6-month probationary period, with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.

·         The duty station will be in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
