MACP Project Leader - Papua

Yayasan WWF Indonesia, an independent national conservation organization, is part of a global network of WWF. Yayasan WWF Indonesia is currently seeking the best candidate for the position of MACP Project Leader. This position will be based in Papua, and report directly to the Papua Program Manager. 

In carrying out their duties, the MACP Project Leader manages the project on community-based sustainable development in Papua. The Project Leader also ensures that the project runs smoothly throughout the entire project cycle. The project leader effectively makes plans that support project goals and leads their team to perform efficiently to ensure the project is carried through successfully. The project leader engages the team, motivates them, takes care of their needs, and maintains a friendly and productive work environment. 

Requirements for this position are:

  • At least have a Bachelor's degree in a related field (conservation, environment, natural resource management) or a minimum of 8 years relevant professional experience, including three years of leadership experience in project management, preferably in project delivery and implementation.
  • Additional academic training or a degree in business administration or management is a plus.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing individuals and teams to become high performers. Proven track record of successfully developing and leading projects in conservation, natural resource management, or other related fields.
  • Proven experience in managing budgets appropriately.  Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
  • Adherence to WWF’s values of Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, Courage.

Strong networking skills and excellent collaboration traits with proven experience in building and managing effective relationships and partnerships. 
  • Facilitation and Advocacy Skills: Employs effective facilitation techniques internally as well as when 
  • engaging with external stakeholders to advocate for the project’s interests. 
  • Communication: Uses appropriate means of communication to convey messages, seeks 
  • input from others, and ensures understanding. Strong written and oral communication skills and professional proficiency in English. 
  • Conflict Resolution: When a diverse group of individuals works within proximity, conflict is often inevitable. However, nothing quite hinders productivity like team friction. Project leaders must swiftly recognize emerging disputes and work to de-escalate any tension or disputes among team members. A work environment should be harmonious for all team members to thrive.   
  • Time Management: Although primarily focused on leading their teams, there are still deadlines that project leaders must ensure are met. These professionals must understand the capabilities and skill levels of the team and have strong time management skills to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently.
