Ecosystem Restoration Communication Assistant

Yayasan WWF Indonesia, an independent national conservation organization, is part of a global network of WWF. Yayasan WWF Indonesia is currently seeking the best candidate for the Ecosystem Restoration Communication Assistant position. This position will be based in Jakarta, and report directly to the  Coral Triangle Program (CTP) MPA and Coastal Community Lead

In carrying out their duties, this position will be documenting policy, lessons learned, practices on ecosystem restoration in Coral Triangle, and working with partners to produce communication materials, scientific publications, and policy papers as an approach to improve coastal and marine ecosystems protection and restoration in the region.

Duties & Responsibilities:

A. Managing Coral Triangle Learning Hubs on Ecosystem Restoration
    1. Documenting the ecosystem (coral reef, mangrove, and seagrass) restoration under WWF projects in the Coral Triangle area.
    2. Monitor and document the relevant information and event-related to the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration
    3. Communicate with relevant government, universities or scientific institutions, NGOs, or CSO to develop and intensify knowledge sharing on ecosystem restoration.
    4. Support the ecosystem restoration projects in :
      • develop learning hubs in targeted sites (Derawan Islands MPA, Tun Mustapha Park, and Balabac Islands MCA)
      • produce training and communication materials, lessons learned and 
      • produce scientific publications

B. Support IPB University in managing SCORES (School of Coral Restoration) 
  1. Write reporting-style articles summarizing the SCORES’ weekly webinar. The first month will be a lot of catch-up writings of the undocumented previous webinars that can be assessed from recordings.
  2. Catalog, edit, and upload webinar recordings to the SCORES YouTube Channel.
  3. Working with the SCORES team to handle, manage and develop SCORES’ social media channels.
  4. Communicate with speakers from Indonesia and other countries.
  5. Assist weekly webinar programs (updating social media, contacting speaker, summarizing speaker’s resume, assisting in the zoom webinar)
  6. Assist in developing proposals for SCORES activities.
  7. Support the development of SCORES’ communications database.
  8. Assist with preparing, writing, and editing the SCORES’ annual publication. 

Requirements for this position are:

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Science Communication, Marine Science, Fisheries, Biology or other related fields.
  • Experience in writing and reporting marine conservation issues. 
  • Proficiency in various design, communication, and social media software and applications.
  • High-level ability to communicate in English, both spoken and in writing.
  • Ability to meet the set targets and to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Trustworthy, attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and organized in work.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with marine conservation issues and coastal ecosystem restoration in Indonesia and the Coral Triangle.
  • Adherence to WWF’s values of Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Courage.
