Project Overview and Role:
About PERINTIS – PERINTIS is a project implemented under the DFAT-funded
Indonesia Australia Partnership for Infrastructure (KIAT).
The purpose of PERINTIS is to support Palembang’s sanitation program through a social marketing campaign and training. The focus is on helping community members make informed decisions about sanitation and assisting local government and contractors to deliver effective sanitation services.
Phase 2 of the program is expected to begin in October 2022.
Based
in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia, the Community Socialisation
Coordinator will be a permanent,
full-time role responsible for assisting to deliver the PERINTIS
Marketing and Communications Strategy with particular attention to the
PERINTIS Socialisation Campaign to increase city-wide sanitation in
Palembang amongst community members. The Community Socialisation
Coordinator will report directly to Marketing and Communication Manager
and will receive support from the Deputy Team Leader based in Palembang
and Project Manager in Australia
Duties:
- Together with the Marketing and Communications Manager (MCM), assist to develop the PERINTIS Inclusive Socialisation Campaign Framework and over-arching PERINTIS Marketing & Communications Strategy with particular interest in community members.
- Together with the MCM, MEL Adviser and MEL Coordinator, measure the effectiveness of each socialisation campaign in terms of gaining community members’ ‘willingness to connect’ to household sewerage connections and increased sanitation knowledge.
- Work with the Graphic Designer/Videographer and Copy Writer and other required consultants to adapt socialisation material already developed or develop new material as required, which aligns with the Palembang context and community requirements.
- In conjunction with the MCM, run any tenders if required, and manage supplier contracts for broad scale socialisation campaign(s).
Skills and Experience:
- An Indonesian National with minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Water and Sanitation (WatSan), or a similar community development/health project.
- Demonstrated experience in working with socialisation campaigns and a range of stakeholders, such as CSO/CBOs, government, the private sector and training and education institutions.
- A track record of working with and engaging community members including women, people with disability and other vulnerable groups.
- A first degree or higher in relevant fields of Water and Sanitation (WatSan), community development, marketing & communications or other areas related to designing community socialisation campaigns.
