SurfAid is a non-profit organization which aims to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing. SurfAid is currently working in a few locations in Indonesia: Mentawai Islands District in Sumatra Barat, Bima District in NTB and Sumba Barat District in NTT. We work in the areas that are considered the most remote, with limited infrastructure and few community empowerment programs working there.
We are currently establishing a new program in Rote, East Nusa Tenggara and looking for an experienced and resourceful person with a positive “CAN DO” attitude to join the team as our:
Social Behaviour Change Communication
(SBCC) SPECIALIST - ROTE MALOLE
As part of the Rote Malole Program Team, SBCC Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and capacity building programs for the Rote Malole program team on Social Behavior Change Communication and increasing the quality of programs and interventions through continuous learning.
THE PERSON:
You are an open minded person and do not mind being hands on as needed since you will involve supporting the team to open the project and establish a detailed implementation plan. You will be based in a remote area for a long period of time and required to spend 60% of your work time to travel to the village to support the field staff, therefore your willingness to travel in basic conditions is highly expected. It would be great if you are used to working with small organizations, as you are required to be hands-on in a small team setting.
THE QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCES:
Bachelor degree in communication, social marketing, public health (major in health promotion) or related field
Minimum 8 years of experience in developing SBCC strategy, materials, and tools, and implementing the strategy on the ground either in the development sector or private sector
Familiarity with nutrition, community health, food security, agriculture, women empowerment
Experience in training and capacity building others
Experience in monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the SBCC strategies
Multi tasking, creative and resourceful CAN DO ATTITUDE!
Have knowledge of barrier assessment and analysis
Independent but consultative
