SurfAid is an international non-profit organization working to improve the health and nutrition status of women and children living in remote locations in Indonesia connected to surfing locations. We have worked on the islands of Nias, Mentawai, Sumba, and Sumbawa. Our interventions consist of community-based health and nutrition for women and children, food security and nutrition-sensitive agriculture, as well as water and sanitation.
In June 2023, we will be commencing our new project on Rote Island, in Nusa Tenggara Timur Province, focusing on community-based interventions to help reduce stunting prevalence in 12 villages across 4 sub-district on the western side of Rote Island which is the most densely populated.
As SurfAid will be working on improving the health and nutrition status of the communities in Rote, we also need to address the impact of climate change particularly on community health. The 2022 IPCC report states that climate change is affecting food security and nutrition status, as it will increase the risks of hunger, malnutrition, and deaths due to lack of food. We will be building on this existing project with interventions addressing climate change adaptation and activities that increase community resilience.
SurfAid is urgently looking for a Consultant (or a consultant team) to conduct a rapid assessment on the current impact and future impact of climate change towards the communities on Rote Island that we are working with, as well as to develop a project concept and write a grant proposal based on the result of the assessment.
