Environmental Governance Advisors

The Asia Foundation, an international non-governmental organization, is seeking applicants for long-term, senior-level technical and management positions for an upcoming environmental governance project in Indonesia.

The Program Director must possess experience managing large-scale donor-assisted governance programs. S/he must have technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: strengthening local governance through partnerships with CSOs, addressing the regulatory framework for land use change, improving spatial planning and forestry permitting, and utilizing the justice sector to address illegal forest conversion. Experience in policy research and using a political-economy analysis to design demand-side governance interventions a plus. Requires minimally 6 years experience in a similar position.

The Program Officer must have technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: providing technical assistance to local CSOs to champion transparency and accountability in land use planning and permitting; advocacy for regulatory change to promote low-carbon development; training for local government in spatial planning and community consultation on land use; investigation and prosecution of illegal forest conversion. Requires at least 4 years experience in a similar position.

Fluency in both English and Indonesian required for all positions. Prior work experience in Central Kalimantan and/or Papua highly desirable.
