Media & Communication Officer

Qatar Charity is a Qatar-based NGO. Since the inception of its services in Indonesia in 2006, the Organization has been committed to assist the needy and less supported people all over Indonesia. The Organization is active in providing assistance in the following domains; Education & Cultural Support, Family, Women & Child care, Livelihoods & Income Generation, Water & Sanitation, Relief & Emergency Response and last but not least Seasonal Programs. After the tragedy tsunami disaster in 2004, Qatar Charity has made a considerable contribution to the efforts of reconstruction and rehabilitation in the affected areas.

Qatar Charity Indonesia (QCI) is currently seeking:

* Position: Media & Communication officer
* Report to: Country Director
* Contract length: 01 year (Including 3 months probation period)
* Duty Station: Jakarta

Media & Communication officer

Areas of responsibility


* Produce advocacy and communications materials (including Newsletters, Brochures, Posters, Banners, Print ads and Photographs). A basic understanding of the printing process will be an added advantage.
* Manage the website by regularly updating information and vet all information posted publicly, both in design and content.
* Monitor the organizations publicity profile while keeping records of the same.
* Facilitate and play a lead role in the implementation of the QCI communication strategies for the diverse population.
* Issue press statements and background briefings for local and international media and tracking how that information is reflected in media reports as well as correcting misinformation as required.
* Act as the contact point for media enquires, gather information from other teams and referring media requests to other colleagues; having briefed them on how to manage enquiries.
* Identify stories and issues that best highlight QCI programs and advocacy objective to pro-actively push to regional, national and international media.
* Use events such as press conferences, events, media interviews and briefings, identifying media spokespersons and acting as media spokesperson as required in line with agreed communication plans and priorities.
* Provide strategic media advice and develop and implement innovative and effective media strategies in line with QCI objectives.
* Identify gaps and provide media training, resources and skills development in order to build long-term communications capacity.
* Work with office team members to source and distribute stories, photographs, audio and film that support media relations objectives.
* Work with the team to produce and distribute a daily record of QCI media coverage, using search engines, cuttings services and information supplied by others in QCI. Review the impact of QCI media activity against agreed performance targets, and to help inform future media strategies and activities.
* Establish, develop and maintain good relations with target media contacts and with staff across QCI, particularly those closest to the stories, to help achieve QCI programs and advocacy objectives in India.
* Collect and organize data and information
* Handle reception desk and in-charge of logistics at press conferences & meets
* Perform other tasks as required.

Qualifications and experience

* Minimum qualification is bachelor degree.
* At least 02 years experience in initiating and coordinating Income generating activities projects preferably in the NGO sector; International experience will be an advantage.
* Ability to link with other players in the economic empowerment field and represent QC effectively
* Ability to travel extensively especially to remote areas
* Experience in and the ability to train people;
* Commitment to the aims and objectives of QC

* Ability to work flexibly, & meet deadlines
* Fluent English and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent writing and reporting ability.
* Good interpersonal skills to ensure effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners including governmental institutions.
* Strong analytical and presentation (oral and written) skills including use of essential computer software packages.
* The ability to meet deadlines, achieve results and work with minimal day to day supervision.
