Project Description
Mercy Corps Indonesia works to address the root causes of poverty to improve the quality of life for disaster and conflict affected, urban, and coastal communities. Current programs in Maluku promote sustainable economic development through integrated, entrepreneurial self-help programs and skills training, with a particular focus on health, nutrition, and environmental development for underprivileged communities.
Position: Livelihoods Consultant
The consultant will provide technical assistance for the achievement of Matasiri program expected result number 1 that focuses on community’s economic development. It is expected that communities in post-conflict areas benefit from economic programs which raise income and economic interaction (Approximately 50% of beneficiaries are women)
This action will take a number of approaches to improving economic opportunities for ex-IDPs in rural and urban communities, in both traditional and alternative livelihoods. Overall, these initiatives are expected to raise incomes by an average of 15%, either through increases in price or productivity, through reducing costs of production, increasing market access and information, or introducing new livelihoods activities.
Responsibilities:
Prepare training modules for staff and beneficiaries that will be used during community socialization meetings.Deliver of trainings to guide beneficiaries in selecting and prioritize their livelihoods activities for program implementation.Technical support for selection and start up of economic projects.Monitoring of economic projects and support for providing trouble-shooting on follow-on training for projects.
Area of coverage :
This activity will take place in 15 villages in Maluku Tengah, Kota Ambon and Seram Bagian Timur
