Project Officer for PELANGI

Pelangi Indonesia, a not-for-profit non-governmental environmental think-tank in Jakarta, Indonesia, is currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Project Officer. This position reports directly to the Program & Information – Communication Manager.

Pelangi Indonesia partners with communities, international & local organizations work has been working to develop a project called “Sustainable Tourism, Efficiency Energy and Adaptation Measure (STREAM) in Pangandaran, West Java. This project is a continuation from Tourism Management Plan Project that was held from 2006 – 2009. STREAM is a consortia project that includes UNWTO, Indecon, Adelphi and Pelangi. The project aimed to create sustainable tourism through energy efficiency also development of Renewable Energy resources.

Core duties and responsibility will be as follows:

• Work closely with local working group and community to implement project activities.
• Act as lead officer in implementing and delivering training and workshops to targeted audiences, to ensure the project can be delivered properly and effectively
• Conduct surveys or focus group discussions to targeted project audiences
• Develop, maintain and improve close-relationships with local stakeholders and partners to ensure constructive working relationships that would contribute to the learning and sustainability of the project
• Transfer knowledge and capacity development for local partners
• Prepare and develop weekly/monthly progress reports to ensure the provision of updated and accurate information to her/his
• Develop excellent communication and cooperation within the team and between Jakarta and Pangandaran.

In general, the prospective candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in relevant field;
• Minimum 2 (two) years of experience;
• Good understanding of Energy Efficiency;
• Strong knowledge in project life cycle and excellent report writing skills;
• Good facilitation and presentation skills;
• Good negotiation and advocacy skills with ability to work with community.
• Healthy habits that can support long-hours and demanding working condition, and possible extensive traveling schedule;
• Strong leadership, responsible, self-confidence, and self-direction with minimum supervision.
• Good communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English. Able to speak Sundanese would be an advantage.
• Proficiency in computer programs, the Internet, emailing software, data collection & management
• Able to ride a motorcycle & have license.
· Good interpersonal skills, communication skills and pleasant personality.
