Communication Director Assistant

Greenpeace, one of the world’s most respected and dynamic organization, is an international non-profit global campaigning organization that acts to protect and conserve the environment. At the heart of Greenpeace campaigns is the tradition of non-violent, direct action against environmental abuse and destruction.

For 40 years, Greenpeace has been successful in campaigning to reverse environmental degradation by bearing witness to environmental degradation by bearing witness to environmental destruction and exposing and confronting environmental abuse. Greenpeace campaigns have been vital in informing government policies on the environment and effecting changes in business practices which lead to various environmental problems.

Greenpeace does not accept funding from governments or corporations to ensure our independence from financial and commercial interests. We rely on the support of individuals to be able to continue our work in protecting the environment.

The Regional Oceans Campaigner serves as the Team Leader for Greenpeace Southeast Asia’s Ocean Team, overseeing and spearheading the planning and implementation of Oceans campaign in Southeast Asia primarily in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Communication Director Assistant

Responsibilities:
The Communications Director Assistant shall assist the Communications Director in improving and implementing management systems and procedures primarily in the areas of communications planning and monitoring, financial oversight of communications budgets and expenditures, and ensuring the provision of logistical and administrative support to communications functions.
This position is also expected to improve the interface between the communications, campaigns, FR and Organization support departments of GPSEA.
Responsibilities :
Working closely with the Communications Director and Regional communications managers, propose, develop and implement systems and procedures for effectively managing communications especially with regard to annual and quarterly campaign budget preparation and monitoring;
Assist the Communications Director in the organization and preparation of the consolidated annual communications budget;
Assist the Communications Director in the organization of communications meetings and skillshares, including GPSEA’s annual campaign planning processes;
In coordination with the Organization Support department, regularly monitor and keep track of communications expenditures, including requiring communications staff to submit monthly reconcilers as well as budget requests on time;
Participate in communications discussions and planning regarding strategic issues, communications resource planning and organizational planning within GPSEA;
Help coordinate and facilitate information flow within GPSEA regarding communications developments and operations;
Assist the Communications Department in the preparation of monthly campaign reports


Requirements:
Essential required skills :
Minimum bachelor degree with 3 years in related position e.g. senior level PA
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and one Southeast Asia language.
Minimum bachelor degree, preferably from communication related degree
Very strong planning and organizing ability and demonstrated experience in working with people of different cultures.
Ability to work effectively in a team but also to work independently, and unsupervised.
Excellent computer skills, including mastery of programs on database management and budget preparation/monitoring.
Ability to liaise with a variety of internal and external contacts, including journalists, journalist associations, GPI/NRO communications and NGOs.
Ability to carry out budget forecasting and prepare annual budgets for communications operations.
Experience in working with people of different cultures
