Established in 1888 Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is one of Germany’s longest established and largest social welfare organisations. ASB currently has a portfolio of over 100 projects in relief, rehabilitation and community based development. ASB entered Indonesia following the May 2006 earthquake and has established projects in emergency relief; reconstruction and training; information and outreach; disaster preparedness and livelihoods sectors. ASB is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and committed individuals for the following position:
Project Officer
Location: Mentawai – West Sumatera
Duration: 12months (subject to completion of probation period)
Summary of job profile/responsibilities:
ASB has vacancies for one project officer. These are junior positions to assist in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of ASB’s disaster risk reduction for schools.The project officer reports to the project coordinator.
Key requirements:
1. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently to deadlines
2. Knowledge of DRR an asset
3. Knowledge of inclusive and/or special needs education an advantage
4. Excellent reporting skills required
5. Excellent communication and coordination skills
6. Bahasa Indonesia and good English language skills an advantage
7. Knowledge of local language is advantage
8. Experienceof working with local government an advantage
9. Computer literate (minimum MS Office)
10. Able to multi-task and work to achieve deadlines
11. Able to work under own initiative as well as within a team in a multicultural environment
12. Individuals with good organizational skills and excellent motivation, but no previous NGO experience will be considered.
