M&E Internship at UNAIDS Cambodia

Background:
In Cambodia the national response to HIV and AIDS is coordinated by the National AIDS Authority (NAA) and implemented according to a five-year multisectoral National Strategic Plan (NSP). The NSP includes an M&E framework which is described in detail in the National HIV and AIDS M&E Guidelines. Considerable progress has been made with the development of one single, well integrated national M&E system to track progress made by the national response. Still, results need to be consolidated. M&E systems and capacity require further strengthening.

The strengthening of M&E systems is an important aim of Round 9 of the Global Fund. Various activities including M&E capacity assessments and training are being implemented by the NAA and the HIV/AIDS Coordinating Committee (HACC). Strengthening the routine monitoring system, which obtains HIV prevention data among key affected populations, is one of the major activities that will be carried out in the coming two years.

The UNAIDS Country Office (UCO) supports the implementation of M&E, research and strategic planning activities through technical advice and coordination assistance.

This internship assignment offers incumbents a good opportunity to acquire practical work experience in M&E and in the field of HIV and AIDS in general. The Intern will be based at the UCO and work under a UNDP internship contract. It is a requirement to be still enrolled in studies.

The Intern must either be fully self-financed or all costs related to the assignment (e.g., travel, accommodation, living expenses) must be borne under a scholarship or other financing secured directly by the incumbent.

Description of Duties:
Under the overall supervision of Cambodia's UNAIDS Country Coordinator and the direct supervision of the UNAIDS M&E Advisor the incumbent will assist with the following tasks:

• Compilation, analysis and interpretation of data from different sources.
• Review and analysis of data and information related to Global Fund HIV grants including through use of grant dashboard.
• Drafting, review and editing of technical reports and other publications.
• Data quality assessments and data triangulation.
• Preparation and facilitation of M&E capacity assessments and training.
• Programme reviews, evaluations and operational research.
• Participation in relevant meetings, workshops and conferences as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• University degree in Public Health, Social Sciences or related field.
• Proven data collection, processing, analysis and interpretation skills.
• Practical work and/or research experience in developing countries a major asset.
• Good understanding and/or genuine interest in HIV and AIDS related issues.

To be eligible applicants must still be enrolled in a study programme.
