Chemonics seeks short-term Strategic Communications Specialist

Chemonics seeks a short-term Strategic Communications Specialist for the USAID-funded Indonesia Marine and Climate Support project in Indonesia. The project’s goal is to support the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) efforts to achieve sustainability in the marine and fisheries sector and to improve the response of coastal communities to near-term disasters and long-term impacts related to climate change.

The Strategic Communications Specialist will work with the MMMAF Center for Data, Statistics, and Information (PUSDATIN) to improve and streamline strategic communications processes and strategies.

Responsibilities include:

· Research and review existing and past communications strategies, documentation, and campaigns, including objectives, audiences, and messages.
· Conduct focus group discussions with stakeholders.
· Analyze research findings, develop lessons learned, and revise objectives, messages, and target audiences.
· Conduct tests of and update messages through focus groups with representative likely audiences.
· Draft a working strategic communications plan.

Qualifications:

· At least ten years of relevant experience in strategic communications planning and implementation.
· Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
· Proven ability to with varied stakeholders to gather feedback and develop consensus.
· Strong interpersonal and written communications skills.
· Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
· Strong writing and speaking ability required in both Indonesian and English.
