Vacant Position in Palopo, South Sulawesi : INTERPRETER/TRANSLATOR (CONSULTANT)

CARE International Indonesia (CII), as an international NGO, has carried out large scale operations in Indonesia, encompassing emergency operations, transitional activities centered on agriculture and nutrition and a range of development initiatives in such areas as water and sanitation, health and micro-credit.

CARE Indonesia in Palopo, South Sulawesi is currently recruiting the following position:

JOB TITLE : INTERPRETER/TRANSLATOR (CONSULTANT)

DEPARTMENT/PROJECT : PROGRAM/BCRCC

JOB SUMMARY

The BCRCC project started on 1 February 2011 and will run for 36 months. The project aims for an increased resilience of coastal authorities and civil society organizations in Indonesia to reduce the negative impacts of climate change. CII in consultation with partner organizations, academic institutions and local NGOs has developed a set of instruments for Climate Change Adaptation and inclusion of climate change aspects into local planning. In particular CARE has developed a methodology for Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment (CVCA) which will be used to collect qualitative data. This assessment will be conducted by CII and local partners in 4 districts (Bone, Wajo, Luwu and Luwu Utara) within 40 villages. In addition, with this assignment, a household survey will collect quantitative data to assess the current livelihood situation in the target villages and produce a baseline from which progress and achievement in relation to project indicators can be measured. Regarding on these, and to develop process of Household survey organized by International Consultant (Banyaneer), household survey activities professional translators are needed. CII need to be hire interpreter consultant to joint with Banyaneer Consultant for Household Survey in Indonesia to support the activities of the baseline in training session (2 days) and field survey (5 days). The translators need to have a good understanding on the context of climate change to ensure optimal knowledge transfer regarding the surveys from Direct Consultant to Enumerators.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

· To support and provide interpretation and translator services for participants and facilitator during the training enumerators and field surveys;

· To provide interpretation during the training in relation with the process, discussion and presentation in Bahasa and vice versa;

· To work with International Consultant in technically implementation of survey in field location;

· To provide and perform documents translationduring the Training and Field Surveys, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Has a degree in relevant field

· Has experiences as interpreter and translator

· Must be fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (verbal and written)

· Ability to work with a team and minimum supervision

· Demonstrated capacity to work as a team member

· Facility with Excel and Word Office application

WORKING CONDITIONS

Travel 80 % on the area project covered
