Position Summary
RESPONSIBILITIES
The DRR Project Manager is primarily to provide strategic leadership and planning in the field activities. He/She is responsible for managing, administrating and supporting the project staff and activities to efficiently and effectively achieve the goal and objectives of the project entitled Development of Community-based Response Management on Disaster (COMRADE). The overall objective is to improve alertness and preparedness of communities at selected sub-district level, especially the women and the elementary students, in facing the disasters. The role involves a high degree of good communication skills and how to mobilize community assets to install and testing the community early warning system. The Project Manager also ensures the quality of COMRADE project is reflecting ADRA Indonesia's key values, having liability for providing regular report to ADRA Indonesia's Program Director in English and responsibility for maintaining a high standard of work in all project components.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• Honest and trustworthy, possessing high integrity, and have interpersonal skill in order to maintain a good working relationship with project team members, community leaders and government.
• Highly organized, self-motivated using innovation and creativity.
• Good understanding of disaster risk reduction (DRR) education, community preparedness and alertness, and its current opportunities and constraints within the Indonesian context is a must.
• Good skill to discover community assets to arrange economic recovery plan following disaster; Demonstrate the affinity with discovering community strengths and assets to build community economic resilience.
• Have solid understanding of education/training and pedagogical considerations.
• Familiarity with the Bangkok Action Agenda and Hyogo Framework for Action an advantage.
• Excellent representation, communication and first-rate reporting skills; ability to establish and maintain working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for cultural diversity.
• Ability to work under pressure at times while maintaining high quality results.
• Accurately care for project funds in accordance with the established guidelines and policy; some basic knowledge in bookkeeping principles is an advantage.
• A university degree in Social Science or Development Studies, Education or other relevant subject.
• Proven by management, coordination and networking abilities with a minimum of working experiences in managing two (2) projects in a related field.
• Fluent in English (mostly in written) and Computer literate.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS
The COMRADE Project Manager is a team player at field office implementing the project, establishing good partnership with local government and stakeholder organizations, and managing day-to-day operations (administration, finance, procurement, reporting) of the office as well as monitor the progress of work in the field. To ensure the proper DRR education and simulation, the installation and testing of system, and the increase of women capacity on how to sustain economic activities following the disasters (post-disaster economic recovery plan), the Project Manager is required to undertake the following tasks:
1. Coordinating with related stakeholders for the COMRADE Project orientation prior to implementation.
2. Developing monthly project actions plan based on the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP).
3. Supervising the education proses, training and simulation activities.
4. Providing rooms for discussion, initiating surveys, analyses and presentations of findings.
5. Conducting regular project evaluations on the progresses and the staff's activities (review of outputs/ documentations/ deliveries) and providing supports and trainings as necessary for adequacy of quality and quantity.
6. Project cost control: managing the projects and taking charge for maintaining expenditure within the contractual budget and scheduled guidelines.
7. Preparing the monthly activity reports and other reports as required to ADRA Indonesia; all reports provided and submitted to ADRA Indonesia are in English.
8. Ensuring the project assets are kept safely.
