Build Change (www.buildchange.org) is an award winning international
non-profit social enterprise that designs earth-quake resistant houses and
trains builders, homeowners, and engineers to build them. Build Change has
been working in West Sumatra, Indonesia since January 2008, assisting
homeowners to rebuild safe houses after 2007 and 2009 earthquakes. Build
Change has the following positions open in West Sumatra.
*Technical Supervisors*
Program and Management Responsibilities**
- Oversee construction of earthquake-resistant, culturally appropriate
houses
- Supervise and Mentor Technical Apprentices
- Work directly with homeowners providing hands on technical assistance,
training, and design inputs.
- Work with teachers and school group in developing changes to
construction practice
- Willing to travel to Bengkulu, Bandung and other Build Change work area
Qualifications
- S1/D3 degree in civil engineering or related field
- At least 3 years experience managing and supervising construction of
masonry, reinforced concrete and timber buildings
- Knowledge of principles of earthquake resistant construction
- Demonstrated experience managing construction staff, builders, and
contractors and ability resolve problems with contractors
- Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and development ethics
- Familiarity with use of AutoCAD drafting software
- Familiarity with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Good in written and spoken English or desire to learn

*Logistic Officer*
Responsibilities**
· Obtain quotations prior to purchasing
· Keep track of the items ordered
· Find new houses for office/or staff housing
· Manage the movement/ opening of new offices/houses
· Implement Build Change’s procurement system
· Create and update Assets Inventory
· Prepare and file contracts for houses/offices
· Take care of the office appliances and equipment troubleshooting
· Prepare, update, and file forms for office operations
· Manage vehicles and drivers, including coordinating schedules and
implement Build Change’s vehicle manual
- Willing to travel to Bengkulu, Bandung and other Build Change work area
Qualifications
- S1 degree in civil engineering, architecture, accounting,
administration, or finance
- At least 3 years experience in operation management, logistics and
administration of non-profit organizations
- Attention to detail and quality control
- Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and development ethics
- Proficiency with Excel, Word and other Office applications
- Spoken and written English

*Communications & Advocacy Officer*
The communications and Advocacy Officer will be responsible for a number of
thematic areas in terms of communications and advocacy. This dynamic
individual will contribute to the development of communication strategies
for key projects and campaigns and coordinate their implementation in terms
of local national and international advocacy, media and online campaigning,
facilitating outreach to public and target groups.
Responsibilities**
- Support the program manger in developing the Build Change advocacy and
promotional plans
- Promoting and Marketing Build Change Activities in the field (Padang,
Bengkulu, Bandung), as well as nationally and internationally
- Develop advocacy and promotional plans in conjunction with the Build
Change team
- Manage all Build Change Indonesia’s promotional products such as
photographs, social media sites
- Organizing and managing events and promotional campaign
Qualifications**
- 2 years experience in Marketing and promotion
- Attention to detail excellent communication skills and high level of
quality control
- Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and development ethics
- Spoken and written English
