Reposting of Spending Assessment, Research and M&E internship, UNAIDS Cambodia

Cambodia's UNAIDS Country Office (UCO) is seeking an Intern to assist with the Fourth National AIDS Spending Assessment (NASA IV), research on stigma and discrimination among populations at high risk of HIV infection and other HIV/AIDS monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tasks.

The Intern will be based at Cambodia's UCO and will work as a member of the Team as well as with representatives of the UN Joint Team on HIV/AIDS and other partner organizations (government, civil society and development partners).

The assignment represents a good opportunity for the incumbent to learn from others and from practical work in the field as well as to share knowledge and experience. The assignment should be undertaken as part of university studies or training courses at a graduate level.

Description of Duties/Tasks
• Assist with the design and implementation of the Forth national AIDS Spending Assessment.
• Assist with the completion of a study on self-stigma among HIV-positive sex workers.
• Assist with other M&E and research related tasks:
- Compilation, analysis and interpretation of data from different sources.
- Drafting, review and editing of technical reports and other publications.
- Data triangulation and data audit and quality assessments.
- Programme reviews, evaluations and operational research.
- Participation in relevant meetings, workshops and conferences as required.

Expected Results/Outputs
• A concise report with the findings of the self-stigma study and recommendations.
• Contributions to the preparation and implementation of NASA IV.
• Timely and meaningful inputs and effective support to the above-mentioned tasks.

Qualifications/Requirements
• Enrolled in university in Economics, Social Sciences or Public Health (preferably Masters level)
• Experience and skills in conducting surveys, preferably financial or economic assessments
• Proven quantitative data collection, processing, analysis and interpretation skills
• Practical work or research experience in developing countries is a major asset
• Excellent oral and written proficiency in English and experience in report writing
• Good understanding and/or genuine interest in HIV and AIDS issues.

Competencies
• Computer skills: Strong computer knowledge and skills, especially in Excel
• Language skills: Fluency in English
• Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
• Very good interpersonal and communications skills
• Experience in interacting with people from different cultures and backgrounds
• Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills
• Pro-active and independent individual who takes initiative and is an outstanding team player

Contractual arrangements
The duration of internship is for six months. The contract is established by UNAIDS. No remuneration of any kind is offered, nor any travel or subsistence expenses covered. Intern must either be fully self-financed or all costs related to the assignment must be borne under a scholarship or financing secured directly by the Intern. Interns must provide proof of adequate health insurance; UNAIDS will provide accident insurance coverage only. Persons closely related by blood or by marriage to staff members are not eligible for internships.
