Vacancy at CI Indonesia - GIS Officer based in Memberamo, Papua

Conservation International, an international non-governmental organization, is seeking applicants for the following position to be based in Kasonaweja, Mamberamo:

GIS OFFICER

GIS Officer will be a part of the implementation of The USAID IFACS Mamberamo Project. The USAID IFAC is a four year Project designed to support the USAID Indonesia’s Country Program Strategy 2009 - 2014, Objective 2. Namely, “Sustainable Management of Natural Resources,” Intermediate Result 1 “Improved Management
of Forest Ecosystems” – whereby the Project seeks to reduce threats of deforestation and Climate Change (CC).  To undertake this responsibility the GIS Officer in Kasonaweja will be supported by GIS and Remote Sensing Specialist CI Indonesia and day to day support by Kasonaweja Project Coordinator.

Key Duty/Responsibility:

1.    Field work (ground check and part of the GIS and mapping field activities)
2.    Assist the GIS and Remote Sensing Specialist or Consultant with training and implementing GIS capacity building activities.
3.    Provide support directly to the PEMDA’s new GIS unit to prepare and follow up training, and to guide PEMDA personnel in the beginning and intermediate stages of geospatial analysis and data management
4.    Office (data manage, mapping and presentation and support others
staff)

Qualifications:

1.    Completion of equivalent Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, geography, geographic information systems for Natural Resource Management or other relevant discipline is required. Fresh graduate are Welcome to Apply.
2.    1 to 3 years professional-level experience in geospatial database development, design, and management; geospatial analysis; performance monitoring; and/or the analysis and interpretation of large amounts of data is required.
3.    Strong Computer skills in geospatial database management, geospatial analysis, and cartographic design.
4.    Strong training skills are needed to explain and demonstrate MIS and GIS concepts to USAID staff and Implementing Partners (IPs).
5.    Strong writing skills are required to prepare regular and ad hoc reports, project documentation,
and briefing papers.
6.    Ability to work effectively in a team environment
7.    Willing and has a passion for working in remote areas of Indonesia with limited access such as Mamberamo, Papua.
