BACKGROUND
TO THE ROLE

KARINA (Caritas
Indonesia) is the humanitarian arm of the Bishops’ Conference of Indonesia
based in Central Jakarta and is official member of the Caritas Internationalis
confederation. Established in mid-2006. KARINA (Caritas Indonesia) acts as a
coordinating and facilitating body for all the 37 Dioceses incorporated under
the Bishops’ Conference of Indonesia.

The Emergency
Response and Preparedness Project Officer is Working together with the ERP
Coordinator in accompanying 10 diocesan partners in Capacity Building for
Emergency Response project. This responsibility includes ensuring effective
project implementation based on the project plan, developing capacity building
materials for the diocesan partners, and facilitating capacity building
activities for the diocesan partners with a strong commitment towards Caritas Internationalist’
principles and values and an understanding of the role of the Catholic Church
in emergency and development activities

CONTRACT DURATION
The contract will be until end of
September 2013

KEY REPONSIBILITIES
Under
the direct supervision of KARINA’s Project Coordinator, The job holder will
plays a key role in covering all aspects related to the DRR/ER Mainstreaming
Project and DRR/ER Contact and Network in order to support the successful
implementation of projects.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1.      Attending meetings, forums or discussions
whenever the other KARINA ERP members are unavailable.
2.      To be sent to the disaster affected areas
in times of disaster, whenever necessary, as KARINA surge capacity and to
assist the local Diocesan partners.

TASKS/DUTIES

1. Develop Emergency Response and Preparedness training modules and program for Diocesan Caritas agencies.
2. Design and deliver emergency response trainings and capacity building programs for the Diocesan Caritas agencies.
3. Networking with Dioceses, other socio pastoral bodies, local and international organizations in terms of developing emergency response training program.
4. Ensuring the training programs are delivered in accordance with the adult learning principles and Caritas Guiding Values and Principles.
5. Provide reports or assist to prepare a report as activity reports, monthly reports or project report.
6. Perform any other tasks related to program management of Emergency Response and Preparedness program.

8.      Transparent
(have to appropriate with what had been spent and had been accepted, also show
supportive evidence).
9.      Write
Back to Office Report (to be circulated internally by Communication Officer)
after attending meetings/conferences/workshops/trainings/events/site visits to
project location with project partners and/or donors.

REQUIREMENTS:
1.      S1 graduate or equivalent
2.      Having experience in the field of
disaster response in the last 3-5 years or in humanitarian field for about 3
years.
3.      Good understanding of the work and value
of ​​Caritas.
4.      Have knowledge and skills in the PCM
5.      Have skills in facilitating a workshop.
6.      Have the ability to develop material
capacity building for partners.
7.      Proficiency in written and spoken
English.
8.      Computer literacy and able to operate
basic applications such as Microsoft Office.
