JOB OPPORTUNITY WITH SILE/LLD PROJECT
FINANCE ASSISTANT - MAKASSAR

A. INTRODUCTION


The Project Supporting Islamic Leadership in Indonesia (SILE/Local
Leadership for Development (LLD), funded by the Canadian International
Development Agency (CIDA) and executed by a Canadian Consulting firm, is to
build the capacity of a) selected State Islamic University (UIN) and State
Islamic Institute (IAIN) in their outreach functions with local communities and
b) the Ministry of Religious Affairs to effectively integrate democratic
governance practices in their strategies, programs and budgets to support
university-based community outreach.

The Project is presently looking for a full time FINANCE ASSISTANT to be
based in Makassar.  Please find below the

B. JOB DESCRIPTION
Position:          Finance
Assistant
Reports to:      Project
Officer
Location:         Makassar

Overall responsibilities:

The Finance
Assistant (FA) reports to the Project Officer (PO).  He/she will undertake his/her work in close
coordination with the Jakarta office Accounting Manager and Jakarta Accounting
Assistant and be responsible to provide various forms of accounting and financial
assistance to the Makassar office related to maintaining accounting and
financial system, preparing monthly fund requests and financial reports in
accordance with procedures and financial guidelines in the Project Procedures
Manual.

Specific responsibilities:

·         Assist
in establishing and maintaining an efficient accounting and financial system in
accordance to policy and procedures manual and requirements by Cowater
·         Coordinate
with the Accounting Manager in Jakarta regarding all accounting and financial
matters and where appropriate with the Jakarta Accounting Assistant
·         Maintain
good working relations with project partners (UIN faculty members and staff)
and PIU members especially those responsible for budgeting and involved in cost
sharing for SILE/LLD Project activities
·         Prepare
monthly financial forecasts or requests for funds to be submitted to Jakarta
office for approval according to budget categories and timetable
·         Ensure
preparation of monthly financial reports (to be reviewed by PO) in accordance
with the requirements of Jakarta office
·         Ensure
appropriate supporting documents for all Project expenses and make verification
for payment requests against its supporting documents
·         Verify
all expenses provided before submitting and sending to Jakarta office
·         Follow
guidelines established through SILE/LLD for Standard Payments for related
Project activities and expenses
·         Provide
necessary assistance regarding financial aspects preparation related to work
sessions, working groups (Pokja) seminars, short courses, etc.
·         Obtain
from the bank necessary statements and monitor Bank balance
·         Prepare
cash/bank reconciliations of SILE/LLD Bank accounts
·         Ensure
payments of goods and services in a timely manner
·         Manage
petty cash and prepare petty cash reports
·         Assist,
under the guidance of the PO, in procurement/purchasing of goods and equipment
according to Project Procedures Manual
·         Provide,
when necessary, assistance to Administrative Assistant as well as Project
Officer

C.  QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

-       Minimum Sarjana (S1) in accounting or finance
-       Experience (10 years) in accounting and financial aspects
-       Familiar with computer software such as Excel, Word, etc.
-       Knowledge of Quickbooks is an advantage.
-       Experience working in the context of projects
-       Strong Indonesian language communication and a good command of spoken and
written English
-       Ability to work well with team from different background
