support to communities in food security, health, education, economic
assistance, microfinance, advocacy, and cultural promotion.
ACTED's
actions are needs based and identified in a participatory manner with
communities in the areas where we are present. ACTED has been active in
Indonesia since April 2005, assisting those affected by the tsunami and
Nias earthquake and is now working to support livelihoods,
community-based disaster risk reduction, and child protection in North
Sumatra, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), and elsewhere.

Currently ACTED has an immediate need for qualified and experienced
staff to be part of our OCHA project in southern Belu District, NTT.

ACTED is recruiting for the following position to be based in the Betun

WASH ASSISTANT

Under the supervision of the Wash project team leader, The Water and
Sanitation Assistant is responsible to facilitate and assist the Wash
project team leader in effective and efficient implementation of
ACTED's Water and Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH)
intervention in Belu district, Malaka Tengah and Barat sub districts,
NTT.

Professional Qualifications and Skills:

- Minimum bachelor degree in relevant educational background such
as social sciences;

- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working for local or
international NGOs or government social programs at village level in
sanitations systems installed,, Self-Help Groups, capacity-building,
Disaster Risk Reduction, or other relevant area;

- Previous experience and good skills in maintenance and
management of sanitations systems installed, and hygiene promotion
awareness materials ;

- Experience conducting Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA)
activities desired;

- Good understanding of vulnerability and good capacity to ensure
participation of women, elderly, disabled and other vulnerable groups in
community activities required;

- Problem-solving skills, result oriented and sensitivity to
gender issues;

- Ability to draft basic reports on activities and track data such
as beneficiary names and numbers;

- Excellent Bahasa Indonesia and Tetun language skills required;

- Intermediate English skills, ability to understand documents and
comfort working in a multilingual environment;

- Motorbike licence and willingness to travel to field locations
by motorbike;

- Computer proficiency in Word and Excel.

Personal Qualities:

- Flexible and adaptable, willing to learn new skills and conform
to new systems and situations;

- Honest, responsible, self-motivated and able to take initiative
under minimum supervision;

- Ability to work as part of a team in a cross cultural
environment.
