PROGRAM SUMMARY -DigIT Program
Over
96 million Indonesians are employed in micro, small and medium-sized
enterprises (MSMEs). Closely linked are
the millions who make their livelihoods on small farms. These groups generally
have limited access to the financial literacy that will help them manage income
effectively. Both MSMEs and smallholder farms often face challenges in
accessing information that will enable them to establish viable, sustainable
businesses.
Globally,
financial literacy has moved into the digital space. However, digital financial
literacy training has not been tailored to MSMEs or tested in Indonesia. Best
practices suggest that the use of technology is only the first step. A deep
understanding of how users interface with technology and how they learn is
critical to developing a successful digital platform for financial literacy.
With the depth of knowledge that Mercy Corps has developed in understanding
learning methodologies and the needs of Indonesian MSMEs and farmers, Mercy
Corps is uniquely positioned to address this challenge.
