Vacancy at CI Indonesia - SLP Field Project Coordinator (Livelihood) base in Mandailing Natal & Tapanuli Selatan

Conservation International, an international non-governmental organization, is seeking to fill the position of SLP Field Project Coordinator (Livelihood) to be base in Mandailing Natal & Tapanuli Selatan.

The Sustainable Landscapes Partnership (SLP) program will establish a replicable model of public-private partnerships that foster low carbon development opportunities, thereby helping to address global climate change and contribute to economic growth.  The SLP will combine public (USAID) and private philanthropic (Walton Family Foundation) funding into an initial $20 million Facility focused on catalyzing low carbon private sector investment in specific landscapes of high conservation value in Indonesia over a five-year period.  This Facility will invest in low carbon and Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) development activities and business models that seek to reduce or eliminate deforestation and associated CO2 emissions.

General Job function of this position is to coordinate and implement the biodiversity conservation in the North Sumatra through sustainable landscape partnership and socioeconomic development particularly in Mandailing Natal and South Tapanuli Regencies.This position is also responsible for ensuring smooth function the field activities and maintains good relationship with partners.

The successful candidate will report to Northern Sumatra Program Manager and work closely with Livelihood Development Manager to provide data information collection, coordinate the activities of sustainable livelihood and green economic sector implementation on the field; He/she will support bigger SLP team agenda in maintaining networking with local stakeholders and partners as well as maintain close coordination with other CI team in Medan and Jakarta.

Responsibilities:
1. Project Implementation

* Conduct assessment on social &economic issues, provide profile of ecosystem services with the guidance from livelihood Development Manager or Natural Resource & Environment Manager include assist with research;

* Collect financing profile of Mandailing Natal and/or South Tapanuli Regencies;

* Implement and facilitate of field livelihood project activities;

* Assist to monitor project implementation in the field

* Work with consultants assigned by the Livelihood Development Manager to develop main value chain and economic sectors;

2.  Capacity Building and Partnership

* Assist to develop a network of key stakeholders to support the smooth sustainable livelihood and green economic sector implementation as a part of the nature essential service conservation and protection effort.

* Assist to build the capacity of stakeholders to utilize good practices in economic development programming.

* Assist to prepare training and or workshop materials as well as participate in developing modules.

3.  Project Report and Administration;

* Prepare monthly report every 10th of the month to be submitted to Livelihood Development Manager and prepare draft quarterly progress reports and technical report activities also the future program.

* Prepare and submit success stories and other materials to SLP communications team and LDM.

* Responsible for coordinate and organize event, implement and manage within timetable and approved budget, monitoring and reporting todirect supervisor.

4.   Representation
    * Represent CI in other potential activities according to CI’s values

Qualifications:

* Bachelor degree and or S1 degree preferred in economy, social, antrophology or natural resources management related science with at least 3 years of experience on conservation and community livelihoods with a specific focus on value chain work preferably in Sumatra (other regional experience will be considered);

* Understanding of forestry issues at regional level including knowledge of community livelihood and community-led conservation issues;

* Experience on a activity design, development, methodology and its implementation;

* Ability to work and communicate effectively in cross-cultural situations with a wide range of people in both the public and private sector settings;

* Flair for diplomacy; negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution, negotiating, develop networking and facilitation skills at all levels;

* Demonstrated competency in field team work and multi stakeholder facilitation;

* Willingness to travel and work long hours, including work in remote areas and work weekends and after hours as needed;

* Good communication skills in local language, Bahasa Indonesia and English;

* Computer literate with experience on electronic communications (i.e. E-mail, Internet, etc.) as a user including a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Preferred :

* Ability to act as spokesperson for Sumatra Program to increase communication and dialogue among local government, conservation-minded NGOs, private sector and conservation-minded community based organization;

* Proven record of success as part of interdisciplinary conservation project teams and self-motivated with the drive and determination to succeed and well-developed

* interpersonal and team working;

* Excellent communication skills in local language(Bataknese or Mandailingnese).
