CARE International Indonesia in Kupang-East Nusa Tenggara(NTT) : Project Manager

CARE International Indonesia (CII), as an international NGO, has carried out large scale operations in Indonesia, encompassing emergency
operations, transitional activities centered on agriculture and
nutrition and a range of development initiatives in such areas as water
and sanitation, health and micro-credit.


CARE International Indonesia  in Kupang (East Nusa Tenggara-NTT)  is currently recruiting the following position for its project:


JOB TITLE : PROJECT MANAGER

REPORTS TO : PROGRAM LEADER (EED & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT)
  


BACKGROUND

CARE is a leading international humanitarian and development organization dedicated to defending dignity and fighting global poverty. In 2012, CARE worked in 84 countries around the world, supporting 997 projects and reaching more than 83 million people.  CARE has operated in Indonesia since 1967 under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indonesia Ministry of Home Affairs. CARE Canada has management responsibilities for CARE under CARE’s International Lead Member Model. Beginning with food distribution, CII activities have expanded into a wide range of programming from disaster risk management and emergency response to economic development with a focus on women and girls.
CARE Indonesia (CII) is about to implement new initiative to contribute to national economic development of Indonesia. The initiative will be executed in Nusa Tenggara Timur Province. It is a 3-year agricultural value chain strengthening that is aimed to improve the economic resilience of small holders through integrated capacity building for value chain stakeholders in Kupang and its surrounding area.
To implement this project, at the beginning stage, we need to recruit Project Manager (PM) to lead in the project implementation in the field.


SCOPE OF WORK

The PM will provide technical oversight on assigned project. S/He will be responsible for coordinating the overall project planning, implementation, monitoring of progress, facilitation of requirements to secure project progress, synergize activities across the partners, coordination and relationship building with key stakeholders, including relevant national and local governments. In particular to make every effort to ensure that the Project’s objectives/outputs are achieved to a high standard of quality according to the log frame and budget, within the contracted project period and in compliance with national laws, donor regulations and CARE policies and procedures.



QUALIFICATIONS

·        University degree in economic or agriculture or farming or development studies.
·        5 - 7 years of project management experience in economic development sector in NGO setting.
·        Experience in community-based approaches for livelihood development, particularly agriculture and/or husbandry sector.
·        Specific experience in leading livelihood or agriculture value chain strengthening project is an added value.
·        Experience supervising staff and collaborate with multi countries.
·        Excellent planning, technical, financial & budget oversight, negotiations, and communications skills.
·        Demonstrated experience in building the capacity of non-governmental partners and dealing with small medium enterprises, including financial service providers.
·        Experience in writing project reports and proposals.
·        Demonstrate experience in applying a gender equality approach.
·        Ability to work under tight deadline and multi-cultural setting.
·        Competent in Windows, MS Office programs, email and database experience.
·        Fluency in English (spoken and written).
·        Understand local language (NTT Province) is added value.
