Background
SNV is a not-for-profit international development organisation. Founded in the Netherlands nearly 50 years ago, we have built a long-term, local presence in 38 of the poorest countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our global team of local and international advisors work with local partners to equip communities, businesses and organisations with the tools, knowledge and connections they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services – empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and guide their own development.


SNV has been promoting domestic biogas as well as medium scale biogas in Indonesia that are based on cattle manure. Apart from the cattle manure base digesters, SNV is exploring possibilities of developing biogas from other waste materials such as tofu waste, sea weed waste, coffee waste, cassava waste and palm waste. The innovative waste to energy project will be implemented in selected districts of NTB, South Sumatra, Java and Central Kalimantan.

We are now seeking a Biogas Advisor who can manage the technical as well as quality management components of this project including designing, supervision, training and monitoring of the digesters.  This position will work under the guidance of SNV’s Senior Renewable Energy Advisor and works closely with local construction partners and government authorities.

Responsibilities
·          Assist in designing new biogas models for this project and prepare bill of quantity.
·          Identify appropriate construction sites and negotiates with communities on biogas construction.
·          Identify appropriate local construction partner organisations
·          Assist on developing construction manuals and training manuals,
·          Provide technical training to local masons and supervisors
·          Take the responsibility for maintaining high quality biogas plant construction standards
·          Monitor the construction and functioning of plants regularly
·          Provide regular feedback and advice to partners and masons on technical improvements
·          Arrange user training on operation and maintenance
·          Develop digester operation system
·          Coordinate with local government,  local communities and local partner on biogas construction
·          Organise and facilitate workshops, meetings with local organisations and the government institutions
·          Prepare periodic reports
·          Carry any other assignment as and when required
Duty Station:  Jakarta with frequent travel to construction sites
Candidate Profile
·          Bachelors Degree in civil engineering (Masters Degree in Civil Engineering is preferable)
·          At least five years of experience working in civil construction, quality control, product development, supervision, training or similar roles
·          Able to make frequent field visits
·          Good writing and verbal skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
·          Good training and communication / human relation skills
·          Biogas experience (desired);
·          Willingness to learn and contribute with innovative ideas
Contract Duration:  A one-year contract will be offered which can be extendable.
Start Date: As soon as practical
