The German Food Partnership (GFP) aims at
fostering the cooperation between the German private sector and public sector
institutions such as GIZ. Its objective is to promote sustainable growth in
agricultural production and improved access to nutrition within the food sector
in emerging and developing countries. Public and private actors join forces in
order to implement comprehensive projects and programs for sustainable business
in these countries. The contribution towards food and nutrition security as
well as economic development in rural areas is to be measured by increased
agricultural productivity and income, improved availability of food and
nutrition and food self-sufficiency.
As one of the first concrete initiatives under the GFP umbrella the Better
Rice Initiative Asia (BRIA) is a joint project planned and implemented by
private partners in collaboration with GIZ. BRIA aims at improving rice value
chains, which also includes rice-based nutrition components, in Southeast Asia
(SEA), namely the four SEA countries Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and
Vietnam. The approach also allows for covering regional cross boarder value
chains. BRIA’s focus is to strengthen the nutritional and economic situation of
smallholders, both consumers and rice farmers. The Project “Better Rica Initiative Asia-Indonesia” is seeking for 1 (one) qualified Indonesian candidate for the position of Component
Manager Nutrition to be based in Jakarta.
Responsibilities
·
independently managing the nutrition component in
accordance with the order and project goals and activities agreed with the partner,
team agreements and/or agreements with the BRIA-Indonesia Focal Point
·
providing professional advice to partners and
cooperating with important stakeholders
·
innovation and knowledge management and communication
of innovations to a broad target group
·
integrating results and experience into teamwork and
the work of all relevant groups
·
technical management of experts in the project
The Component Manager Nutrition performs the following tasks:
Management
responsibility
·
is responsible for the orders and measures in the
nutrition component that are assigned to him/her and for managing 1-3 staff members
Professional
advisory services
·
advises partner institution(s) on identifying needs,
developing concepts and strategies, and provides technical input
·
participates in identifying needs for external support
and advice, works on policy recommendations and develops a strategic approach
·
contributes to preparing and implementing the
coordination process, joint project activities and work in the regions
·
monitors the development and implementation of project
plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts
·
deals with the design, preparation and implementation
of workshops, seminars and other events on issues related to the project’s area
of activity
·
develops and organises quality assurance measures and
suggests necessary changes, improvements and initiatives
·
monitors project progress and the activities, reviews
reports and documents on the progress of joint programmes, identifies
bottlenecks and recommends alternative management options
Networking
and cooperation
·
ensures cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with
partners; cooperates with relevant organisations, non-governmental agencies, the private sector and individuals in the project
environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working
relationships
·
Communicates and
promotes the project’s interests and exchanges ideas and information for the
benefit of the project;
·
travels in the region when necessary, in accordance
with project requirements
Knowledge
management
·
compiles information on issues related to the project
and ensures knowledge transfer
·
develops strategies and technical concepts, including
guidelines, manuals and procedures
·
draws up reports and presentation documents
·
formulates appropriate input for various project
reports including annual reports, and contributes to the other reports required
by the BRIA-Indonesia
Focal Point and GIZ Head Office
Management
and coordination tasks
·
develops project concepts and strategies, ensures
implementation and monitors the impact of the project
·
coordinates and prioritises relevant project
activities in cooperation with the partners
·
Prepares the
budget for key events and related financial documentation;
·
Monitors operational budget against funds availability
for the different program components;
·
compiles the relevant information for joint activities
and assignments
Other
duties/additional tasks
·
performs other duties and tasks at the BRIA-Indonesia Focal
Point
·
Carries out tasks relevant to the project, which may not be
explicitly mentioned in the ToR.
C. Requirements:
·
Master degree in Health,
Nutrition, Food Science ,other related sectors
·
Excellent working
knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the
internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
·
Excellent
communication and facilitation skills (in Indonesian and English)
·
Good working
relations with various actors (government and non-government)
·
Minimum 7 years
of professional work experience with other international organizations,
consultancies or civil society organizations
