Entering school year of 2014 – 2015, Save
the Children trusted to implement a new project in Cilincing, North
Jakarta; named SIAGA (Strengthening and Improving schools and community
to Achieve the Goal of Anticipating disaster).
SIAGA project designed to compliment SETARA (Strengthening Education
through Awareness and Reading Achievement) project, which is our current
Australian Government-funded project; a four-year program that works to
deliver comprehensive school safety including
disaster preparedness to 40 schools in poor areas in North Jakarta.
This SIAGA project in particularly will compliment on-going capacity
building and advocacy activities related to Comprehensive School Health
and Safety (CSHS) component and adhere to SETARA
activities.
As this project would be to compliment
SETARA project who already managed by a Senior Project Officer and a
Project Officer, we will still need a Project Assistant to support the
implementation of program activities under CSHS
component which related to SIAGA project. The Project Assistant will be
responsible for supporting the implementation of all activities under
CSHS program targeted schools as well as community in Cilincing, North
Jakarta. S/he will also responsible for providing
technical assistance related to programmatic activities, program
financial and administration, as well as support monitoring of all
activities in the field. S/he will report to the Project Officer and be
supported by a small finance and administration team
in North Jakarta.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Together with Senior Project Officer and Project Officer, ensure Comprehensive School Health and Safety (CSHS) program activities in North Jakarta are implemented according to the detailed implementation plan.
- Together with Senior Project Officer and Project Officer, ensure close collaboration with local stakeholders including establishing and developing strong and effective relationships with target schools, key district government officials and non-governmental stakeholders. It will also include mobilizing communities in supporting the project.
- Provide technical assistances during the preparation, implementation, as well as post project activities; including distribution of invitation letters, preparation of logistic and equipment, also program financial and administration.
- Assist Senior Project Officer, Project Officer, and MEAL (Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning) Officer; as well as with assistance from other staff, in developing an effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting system (include documenting activities) to ensure the effectiveness of project implementation.
- Together with Procurement and Logistic Assistant ensure the procurement and delivery of all materials needed for all activities both at school and community under CSHS are in timely and a good manner.
- Coordinate closely with Finance Officer and Finance Assistant in terms of financial matters under CSHS component.
- Together with Project Officer, monitor regularly activities both in school and communities under CSHS; such as school health centre (UKS), school based waste management, clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), disaster preparedness, etc.
- Assist Senior Project Officer and Project Officer to undertake advocacy activities to ensure the sustainability of the project.
- Provide monthly report and work plan, and submit to Project Officer
- Other duties as assigned by line manager
QUALIFICATION
- Minimum diploma degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- At least 2 years work experience with non-government organizations, or at least some work experiences both in education and or private sector
- Knowledge and skills in methods to promote improvements in terms of school health and disaster risk reduction issues
- Proven skills to develop an implementation plan and then efficiently implement activities
- Demonstrated ability to write high quality reports and other project documents in Indonesian and English
- Proven ability to organize financial and administration resources according to donor and organization regulations and reporting requirements
