SCI seeks a Community Mobilization Assistant, based in West Sumba



Save the Children is an international NGO and the world’s top independent charity for children in need. Since 1919, we have been fighting for children’s rights, saving their lives and providing hope for brighter futures worldwide.  In Indonesia, Save the Children currently works in eleven provinces, has staff of approximately 190 local professionals, and programming in Child Protection, Education, Health and Nutrition, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Humanitarian Response.  Save the Children in Indonesia is seeking to fill the following position:

Community Mobilization Assistant
Clean and Healthy Start School Project
1 position, based in West Sumba

This post holder will be responsible for coordinating all community mobilization work to support ownership of the program in the community. The post holder will build and maintain relationships with relevant groups and key community members and help facilitate regular engagement of these groups to support community action at community level.

Reports to: Sr. Project Officer
Dimensions: The post holder will coordinate very closely with Community Mobilization Officer in Sponsorship Program and the project team to ensure alignment with the overall community mobilization activities in the target area.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Facilitate planning and organization of meetings in the community to support program. 
  • Coordinating training for community members to support the program.
  • Develop partnerships at community level.
  • Facilitate communities to support the implementation of community action cycle.
  • Facilitate community members to develop their own community action cycle and support implementation of project activities.
  • Monitor and support community members to independently implement their planning.
  • Help to resolve constraints faced by the community members to create an enabling environment to effectively implement the Community Mobilization component of the program.
  • Arrange regular meetings addressing ground level issues identified through community action cycle.
  • Where possible, facilitate integration of community planning into village annual planning and advocate with community integration of their planning through government planning cycle.

Emergency Response Management:
Be part of project activities, financial and budget management when there is a need  to respond to any potential emergencies at all areas

Additional job responsibilities
The job duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.

QUALIFICATION:
  • Diploma 3 or equivalent in relevant field
  • At least 3  year work experience with INGO, at least some experience in education projects
  • At least 1 year experience in education programs with International NGOs
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven skills to develop an implementation plan and then efficiently implement activities
  • Demonstrated ability to write high quality reports and other project document in Indonesian and English.
  • Computer literate
