SCI seeks a Project Officer, based in Sumba



Save the Children is an international NGO and the world’s top independent charity for children in need. Since 1919, we have been fighting for children’s rights, saving their lives and providing hope for brighter futures worldwide.  In Indonesia, Save the Children currently works in eleven provinces, has staff of approximately 190 local professionals, and programming in Child Protection, Education, Health and Nutrition, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Humanitarian Response.  Save the Children in Indonesia is seeking to fill the following position:

PROJECT OFFICER
1 position, based in Sumba

The PO will ensure the quality and timely implementation of programmatic activities and contribute to programmatic planning, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) and reporting.

Reports to: Senior Project Officer
Dimensions: This position will be responsible to implement activities according to work plans, ensure quality of actions, including facilitating MEAL at school and community.
Staff directly reporting to this post: N/A

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Contribute to development of program strategies and interventions based on information and lessons learnt from implementation of activities. 
  • Ensure project activities are implemented according to the detailed implementation plan including leading the technical implementation of the project in the field.
  • With input from technical experts, ensure high quality technical implementation of all project interventions according to global best practices, and lessons learned from SC programming in Indonesia and globally.
  • Organize and carry out school based/community based health and hygiene activities according to operational plans and timely. 
  • Conduct school based awareness/campaign/socialization meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Support in design of promotional materials that include information/education/communication (IEC) and Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) materials
  • In close coordination with Senior Project Officer, provide input for improving partnership with government and school  to ensure regular health and hygiene promotion.
  • Regularly monitor and ensure the quality construction of low cost WASH facilities in target schools in line with plans agreed with communities.
  • Participate in coordinating MEAL activities based on Save the Children MEAL framework in close collaboration and coordination with MEAL officer.
  • In close coordination with Senior Project Officer, ensure regular high quality monitoring and evaluation of program implementation and progress against indicators and outcomes according to Save the Children MEAL framework. 
  • Support Senior Project Officer with relevant information for reporting purposes.
  • Any other related duties assigned by line manager.

Be part of project activities, financial and budget management when there is a need  to respond to any potential emergencies at all areas

QUALIFICATION:
  • Bachelor University  degree in or equivalent in a relevant field (public health, education, social science) 
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural team
  •     Ability to work with children
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • At least 4 years relevant work experience
  • Experience with or familiarity with NGO’s preferred
  • Experience in school health nutrition program, health program, education program and WASH in school program
  • Experience in school/community mobilization
  • Proven knowledge and skill in health and hygiene area
  • Willing to stay in Waikabubak, West Sumba.
  • Proficiency in English is a bonus
